Is it fat you hope lose? If so, then of course the answer is obvious. You cannot choose to lose fat on a specific a specific part of your body, so buckle down and run like the wind. If you want to lose muscle mass, then stop using your legs without gaining weight in the process.

But I would guess that the guys you mention are just skinnier than you overall.

I agree that running, using the elliptical, treadmill, and anything of that sort would in time (patience needed) make your legs thinner. Ever hear the expression "runners legs"? The guys who run a lot ALWAYS have thin legs. No easy answer. I'd continue to do muscle work too as lean muscle takes less space than the same weight of fat.

thank you. yes. i think the key word is PATIENCE. i have been hitting the gym every day, keeping a calendar record of my cals burned. every day i do an hour of cardio. burn roughly 600-700 cals (intermittent running and walking)

i feel and see fat loss around the hip and abdomen, but my thighs continue to chafe. I'm hoping that if I stay the course my thighs will lean up eventually.

For my body, maybe the hip and belly weight is first to go, then fat in the legs. Not sure yet.

weight loss generally occurs from the top down for some reason. It starts in the face, then the stomach, waist, buttocks and finally down to the good ole thighs and calves. Patience.

thank you for the encouragement. that gives me hope. i've also started hitting the elliptical. you can program a setting that accentuates work in the hind legs and butt, which is where i feel like i carry a lot of weight. so i'm doing that in conjunction with the treadmill running. thank you for the support!!!
