A little warning here ... I'm uncut .. one time I had an excessive amount of smegma (had been on an extended camping trip) so in the shower I grabbed some anti-biotic shower wash and washed the head until it was squeaky clean. A couple of days later, my dick was red and sore as hell - went to a urologist - he said I had a massive yeast infection - told me that washing with anti-biotic soap washed all of the "good" bacteria off - put me on a steroid and monistat creme - took about a week to clear up -doc said to only wash it with a tiny amount of mild soap, and mostly just rinse it under the shower. I'll never do that again, for sure.

Can I ask what is Smegma? Is it a sweat build up, secretions from the penis, or what?

It just seems odd that something could build up with nothing else happening down there.

Sorry for the ignorance and in no way do I mean for this to be insulting

Dead skin cells, mixed with oil. Its purpose is to keep the foreskin from fusing to the head, or to keep a woman's inner lips from fusing together, or to keep her clitoral foreskin from fusing with the clitoris.

I'm thinking the original poster may have a yeast infection, too.
That can cause excess unexpected smegma, as the yeast is killing the skin cells.

You'd best clarify for the Americans on this list which end the fanny is. It has a completely different meaning this side of the Pond.

PS - Do Brits wear fanny packs whilst cycling?

QFT. Soaps can actually be really harsh on foreskins. The best is to rinse once or twice a day with just water. But, when you need to use soap consider something like pure glycerine (which doesn't strip moisture) or a moisturizing "body wash" like Dove.
