WOW, that is a terrible Obama impression. How can SNL be SO BAD? The writing sucks, the acting sucks. Doesn't it seem like such a celebrated institution as that show should be able to hire people with a modicum of talent?

Agreed. The piece was poorly written and acted. I think SNL squandered the opportunity to make a point that needs to be made because they're essentially right and that's how good political satire is made. Obama needs to pick-up the ball. SNL virtually handed him McCain and Palin on a plate with two brilliant sketches that helped swing the election. If he's not careful they could do the same thing again.

Indeed. I agree with the truth at the core of every jab they made on his policies.

sadly, it is true.

and of course they left out quite a few things like:

-throwing our allies overboard on the missile shield, in return for russian cooperation on Iran...which is now not happening

-looking weaker than the President of France, on the Iran issue
- bowing and apologizing to every country in the world...and still getting nothing back in return
- pouring 1.2 trillion down the drain as a political payoff, when he could have used that money to really make a difference for this country by investing it in nuclear power, solar, wind and hydropower on a massive scale.
- saving two shitty car companies by pouring what will be tens of billions down the drain, while cutting off funding for the F22, which had huge potential in the export markets...
- and a host of other crap.

thankfully, only 39 more months or so to go....then we can get back to some good old republican incompetence.

Well I think that humor can address political issues. I think that President Obama can still fulfill his promises...and maybe SNL was reminding him in a humorous way to do something!!!

But the guy who portrayed President Obama... they need to fire him. He didn't do a great job. At least when Amy Poehler and Tina Fey did Hillary and Sarah...they did the voices and actions like them. That is what made it so funny. This guy was acting like douche. Obama is NOT a douche.

I agree with you here. Indeed, the one quality of Obama that had initially seemed to me an asset, I now am becoming convinced is, in fact, a liability. I'm referring to his desire to be diplomatic, his belief in corroboration and bipartisan cooperation.

I've come to two conclusions on the above:

1) Obama's political adversaries (either in the opposing party or those in hostile countries) have no intent on cooperation, no desire for bipartisanship, and have every intent of standing in the way of everything he tries to accomplish, because they have much to lose in Obama's succeeding.

2) After he's attempted to meet these people halfway and gets nothing accomplished in trying, they will be the first to deride and criticize him and blame the lack of accomplishment on him.

The point that SNL may be trying to make is "Fuck the people you'll never satisfy regardless. Remember those who put you in office, and why."

There was what President Obama likes to call a teachable moment last week, when the International Olympic Committee rejected Chicago’s bid to be host of the 2016 Summer Games.

“Cheers erupted” at the headquarters of the conservative Weekly Standard, according to a blog post by a member of the magazine’s staff, with the headline “Obama loses! Obama loses!” Rush Limbaugh declared himself “gleeful.” “World Rejects Obama,” gloated the Drudge Report.

So what did we learn from this moment? For one thing, we learned that the modern conservative movement, which dominates the modern Republican Party, has the emotional maturity of a bratty 13-year-old.

The Politics of Spite

It seems he should just spend a day or two watching Fox News to get a goddamn clue.

Thought I must say one thing he can count on is if he wants to start a war, continue a war, threaten war he can count the modern day Republicans IN. They love killing. Love war. Love it love it love it. There isn't a war they don't like. Rage, anger and contempt for anyone not like them.

Yeah, amazing that the IOC denied Chicago's bid. Especially with the rash of teenagers beating each other to death (in some cases) with 2x4's. I'm not sure how anyone could "spin" that, regardless of the network.

NOT so amazing were the jackasses from the consevative right who were "gleeful" and lost no time in turning Chicago's loss of of hosting the games into "Obama's loss".

Gleeful that an American city, it's people, the state, the whole region of the country lost out on the potential revenue that the Olympics could've generated?

What narrow minded, hate mongering, idle brained, selfish bastards, eh? I think the call themselves "Americans".

Well, certainly Obama would have claimed credit for the win, so isn't it somewhat justified? He's the one who chose to insert himself into the process, he's the President, nobody forced him to.

As bare an assertion that "Yes, I will reflexively oppose and obstruct anything Obama attempts to do; and I will root against him every single time, even when it means rooting against the best interests of the nation or a constituent component thereof", as we are likely to get.

Just, wow.

So two posts in response to mine, neither of which addresses my point.

"Hey, look over here at this shiny bauble"........ (economy crashes is background)... "What? We didn't see anything"

You can continue lying to yourselves and trying to blame everything on the Republicans, but look who is in charge now. Sure, blame the economic downturn on Bush, Hannity, Limbaugh, Cheny or whoever, but... what has the Great Obama done to rectify the situation? I mean, he does have Congressional majority belonging to his party, I am sure that they can do *something* can't they?

Personally, I'm glad that we didn't get the olympics, and not because of any problem I have with Obama. No, it's because I hate Chicago and have done for many years. It is extraordinarily corrupt and shits on the constitutional rights of its citizenry. Let it atrophy and die, I say.

Also, the movie Chicago sucked balls.

Agreed. It would be very hard to find a more corrupt city/state. I think the IOC made a fine decision.
