And no, alcohol was not involved

Had rented a nice light little 16" Husqvarna to deal with big branches fallen during storms the last few days here. Had the heavy work done, and was gettin all Benihana on some little branches as more rain was comin when my left hand got in the way...

My pinky and ring fingers got it across the second knuckles. 25 stitches in my ring finger to close it, but only 5 in the pinky so far as a hand specialist needs to inspect the knuckle tomorrow or Monday - a chunk of its cartilage is gone now.

Kids: do not get all Benihana! Haste make waste!

Fuckin lucky I didn't lose em... shit.

The anesthetic is wearing off...

I'm gonna have some beer now.

You are very lucky you did not lose them. I am afraid of power tools and hate the noise they make. I was always terrified of ther band saw in Woodshop.

OMG!! Hate to hear about that!! I'm glad you didn't lose anything, but that's gotta hurt like all get out!!

I have a chainsaw myself and have had a few accidents with it. Mostly the chain came off the bar and almost took out my important dangly parts!! Fortunately, they survived intact. Sure did hurt and ruined a few good pairs of jeans. I'm *QUITE* careful now.

I was reading in Popular Science today about an experimental medicine called "pig dust". It's made from pig's bladders. Say you lose a finger, sprinkle this on the wound every other day and the finger grows back like it was including the fingernail. Shows to be quite promising.

I like the idea of a motor doing my work for me :biggrin1: Badass little saw, though. Made quick work of what I had to do. And my knuckles

Yikes! I am glad you didn't lose those fingers. Here's hoping everything heals normally and you don't lose any strength or mobility.

I once got my hand caught under the wood in a log splitter. Hurt like hell, but fortunately didn't break any bones. Lesson learned, mission work can suck royally and be dangerous.

Danny, didn't anybody tell you that chain letters are against the ToS?

Seriously, I hope for the best news for you concerning your digits.

I heard about that, I think it is intended to grow back a tip of a finger. Not the bones or the whole thing. The fact that it can regenerate any part of the finger is very promising. I'm sure the future holds many interesting cures.

When I read the title of your thread I was afraid to open it. I get squeamish when I know that something bad is gonna happen, such as when the guy on "Hell's Kitchen" cut off the tip of his finger. I get nervous watching the people on Survivor chop things with machetes.

Fox News and something called FUKblogger - oh yeah... quality reporting

Why am I thinking of John Bobbitt right about now?

And did I say how much I like beer?

Good you are up to typing.

People mostly don't realize how much damage can be done by a light touch, even when it is idling down.

Now you will be scared of it enough to be very focused when using one in the future. Think of it as always wanting to bite you.

As a musician, I should have never played basketball in my 30's, but I got hooked for ten years. After many banged fingers, a broken wrist, a tooth cap knocked out, and a bruised rib, you think I would have learned. People that knew me in my church wouldn't let me touch their electric saws when I worked for some of them.

We sometimes seem to enjoy getting next to danger, like it proves something to ourselves. Well, I stopped basketball when my diabetic blindness brought operations that left me with tunnel vision. Now I just swim, hike, and work out. And I try to be careful with sharp stuff.

I hope you get better, soon.
