I'd like some place warm... but not as far south as Florida or Texas. Something middle of the country or more eastern.

Any states big on Technology that have a decent economy for a fresh I.T. Business Grad such as myself?

Looking for Solid work, stable economy, and No salt in the winter.
Know of such a place?

Hey Rikter -
I am sick of this Michigan winter weather too.
I am working on heading down to the DFW area.
Wanna car pool? Road Trip! lol.
The economy is great, its a fantastic city and
the people are great. And when we get there
the DFW folks can have a big, giant party for us. lol.

I'm not sure we have a choice, do we?

People are leaving by the thousands...so I need to explore my options.
Sucks that I have to leave family behind, but I need stable work.
My current company is in a hiring freeze, and won't hire me, even though I have my degree.

So, I need to think bigger.

What he said. Austin sounds like just the ticket. It's a VERY liberal town in a very conservative state. I have lot's of family there and they all love it. It's a pretty, hilly town criss-crossed by creeks, a large university, and active gay community, home of Dell. Non-stop flights to San Jose (silicon valley) because of the massive amount of IT business going on there. It is hot and sticky in the summer but there are lots of places to swim.

North Carolina ?

Nuthin' could be fina, then to be in Carolina...

I have no idea who is hiring at this point, but I understand there are tech jobs in North Carolina's major cities...Charlotte, Winston-Salem, Raleigh. Plus we have a hot governor now.

This is the reason why I'm itching to move to Austin. However, I'm afraid that if I can't get a job that pays enough to pay the bills, I'll have to move back to Indiana. I hated it there. Not to mention that I'm more likely to find a job in Texas than I am in Indiana anyway. (And of course, there's the mild winters here that I really like...)

North Carolina ?

Sounds like one of the few places that would fit the bill.
But stay toward the coast
Atlanta area also.

Tennessee can get pretty cold up in the mountains.
I can tell you that you will experience chilly winters from VA northward
(Not as cold as Michigan)

If you don't want Tx or Fl - nothing north of Texas in the middle of the country works

Gulf coast states - all as far south as Fl and Tx
South Carolina - Don't know if the job opportunities you seek are there.
Must be some jobs there that fit the bill

Good luck
