Yeah. I know. Nobody cares anymore. That's cool. (Again. I was just wondering if I'd missed an "official announcement." I mean, Ellen, Lance Bass, Ricky Martin, and Clay Aiken all made the cover of People when they came out. So, if nothing else, it gets people publicity.)

Yes! she is a lesbian. She's from new jersey and she used to hang out with a few of my family members who were also gay. She's out to her friends and has a female partner. Her name is Dana.

And we were all so shocked when Lance Bass and Ricky Martin came out of the closet, weren't we? We would be equally shocked if Queen Latifah came out.

Look. My point in this thread was to ask the following question: Did she come out and I missed it? I heard she bought a house with her female personal trainer, and I wonderd if this had accompanied her own public "outing" and I just hadn't been aware.
I know I know, but it's an incredibly frustrating topic for me. Opinions that people have expressed that she has to come out to satisfy the media just disgusts me.

Someone was shocked?

Actually, I was surprised when Lance and Ricky came out. I honestly had no idea they were gay. And before someone tries making a "Have you been living under a rock" remark, I try not to form an opinion on someone based on what the media says. Nor do I gossip, contribute to rumors, or try to involve myself in someone's personal life. Being a celebrity doesn't mean the public is entitled to knowing every detail about that person. I try to respect the privacy of others since I know what it's like to have people in your business. It's not fun.

As recently as last year, Queen Latifah has shut down any reference in the press to her sexuality. In A NYTimes interview, this subject came up and according to the interviewer was told change the subject or the interview is over.
As to whether she has officially come out...no. Until then we can surmise.
But really if my personal trainer moved in with me, and I was the size of Queen Latifah, I would want my money back.
Also isn't this the same trainer that Queen Latifah gave a Mercedes to?

I give QL all the credit in the world for not discussing her sexuality. It doesn't matter and that is the point she is making when she refuses to discuss it. I think it's awful that non-heterosexuals are compelled to come out to people. I find the notion of coming out to be absolutely ridiculous because it's nobody's business who anyone is fucking/dating/etc. I think QL is doing it right. She's just living her life, she's not hiding anything and she isn't talking about it. The plumbing between her lover's legs is immaterial. If I could mail her a deafening applause I would.

I've always assumed Queen Latifah was gay as I did Missy Elliot and figure that if they want to come out, they will. I'm not trying to sleep with either of them so this subject doesn't push my drama button at all.

Well, I personally didn't start this thread to say she SHOULD come out. I started it by ASKING if she had come out.

In an ideal world it should not matter if someone is straight or gay, but unfortunately we don't live in an ideal world. The more high-profile people who are accepted by mainstream society who come out, the easier life gets for LGBT community.

And being gay is more than who you sleep with.

I have no issue with this thread whatsoever, be it why or how it was started. I realize it is easier for LGBT community when high profile people come out, but I still think it should be unnecessary. I'm simply hoping it gets to that point eventually. As far as "being gay is more than who you sleep with" is concerned, what do you mean by that? I'm genuinely curious because I've heard opinions on both sides of that fence and I'd like to hear yours. :)

She's a celebrity. "Endowment" is sometimes used as a euphamism for money; she just bought a house in the Hollywood Hills, which means she has more endowment than me. Seems to me it's relatively on-topic.
Unfortunately, it's on-topic at all. Plus, this site is called Large PENIS Support Group. And as famous, funny, talented and beautiful as Latifah is, she doesn't have a penis.
