Unless a woman needs it to control a medical condition, explain to me just how a woman need contraception to live? And the beauty of the free-market system is, if one insurance policy doesn't offer it, find one that does!

If Gun owner's are a minority......why are sales thru the roof. And do you ever leave the state of Cali or any large city where gun ownership is harder than the rest of the country? Do you have any facts to back up your claim?

Why....takes all the consquenses and responsibilities away from the population that many on this board and progressives say can't handle it. I mean it falls right in line with Margaret Sanger's line of thought. And she's a champion of progressives.

Plus, think of all the savings that would be had in terms of health care!!!!!

Like I said, extreme. It's typical of those who hold an Ayn Randian, polarized world view: anything that isn't brutal egoism must necessarily be caught up in a mindless collective. The idea of a community, where individual *and* social responsibility coexist, never seems to occur to them.

The problem with your train of thought is there is always a group of people that exists in your community that believes they are entitled to the fruit of somebody else's labor.

"The problem with socialism is you always run out of other people's money"

Can you provide for us Randians a copy of the "Social Contract"? Just so we know what everybody is entitled too or what I need to provide to the general good, you know a general break down of the levels of society and what each are entitled too and suppose to provide for the the "Betterment of Society".

Yay!!!!.........so instead of arguing the point or showing this "Social Contract", you revert to name calling.

In my short experience here, Sliver never feeds trolls...

Why is anything other than unbridled greed based economy, considered complete socialism by the right?

So what Maher, Schultz and every other Leftist/Marxist/Communist/Socialist
...
I'll just leave this here.

Because, Marxism, Communism, Fascism, Statism....are all forms of socialism.

Why do the left call capitalism unbridled greed based economy? Well we use to have that. But once government got involved, it became bridled (regulations). So I guess working for the betterment of yourself and your family is considered greed to you?

Why are famous musicians rich? I thought they want to do it for the people......

Yay!!!!.........so instead of arguing the point or showing this "Social Contract", you revert to name calling.

As a supporter of the free market, here's a link to where you can take it upon yourself to provide yourself with The Social Contract:

Amazon.com: The Social Contract (Penguin Classics) (9780140442014): Jean-Jacques Rousseau, Maurice Cranston: Books

So what Maher, Schultz and every other Leftist/Marxist/Communist/Socialist commentator says about people of the right, middle america, or any other Conservative that speaks up is ok?

A flimsy attempt at false equivalence, perhaps?

FYI......Miss Fluke was a plant by the democrats on that day, just to cause mis-direction and change the big news stories of the day or week. She mis-represented herself during her little presentation, she's actually 30 and apply to Georgetown, not for the education....but to change their policies. Instead of finding an institution that shared her values...she decided to go to one she didn't agree with and change it.

Outright falsehood, clearly designed to provoke.

All actions have consequences.........if you take the chance of having sex without protection you deal with the consequences. But don't make it my or anybody else's problem if you get prego or sick. If you don't want to get prego or sick and still have sex, figure out a way to pay for your own protection. Last time I checked condoms were cheap and in some cases (planned parenthood) free, and Birth control was relatively cheap. So instead of buying that Ipod or data plan to go with your fancy iphone or night out at the bar.....you should have invested in some sort of sex protection for yourself.

A straw man for the 2010's: "fancy iphones"; plus, an old chestnut: "night out at the bar".

It's a cherished tactic to impugn the morals of the target scapegoat, and then express indignation that the taxpayers are having to pay for this wild splurge of hedonism, ALL THE WHILE the hedonist is out spending money on frivolities. "I don't want my money going where it doesn't belong!" If one really wants to buy into the notion that an insurance plan covering contraception is tantamount to YOU paying for someone else's sex (FFS), I urge you to enjoy your feast on the giant can of worms sitting in your lap.

"Did I just pay for Major Richelieu to murder 345 non-combatant Afghanis in the drone attack he facilitated?"

"So, my tax dollars are going to pay for the hormone-injected feed that livestock is subsisting on, which is the same livestock my children will eat next year?"

"Are we really paying farmers to destroy crops??!!"

"Why does Lockheed get to charge us $53 dollars for a lug nut, while receiving 3 gazillion dollars annually in subsidies, tax incentives, tax breaks, etc...?"

"I'm okay with my money going toward landmines, but not birth control pills."

"Drill baby, drill!"
(context malleable, depending on party affiliation)..................................

Ok, so lets take your idea to the logical conclusion:

Mandatory, ENFORCED, surgically reversible sterilization for EVERYONE until they:

* Are at least 18 years old

* Graduate school

* Demonstrate they have at least a certain amount of intelligence and respect for others

* Prove they have marketable skills and desire to be a productive member of society

That way society won't have to worry about unwanted children.

Klingsor already addressed this one, but I included it as one more example of your trollery.

Anti-people Politicians?

So you want to vote for the Marxist-in-Chief? Do as I say not as I do?

Man, I wish I could throw huge parties and golf as much as he does. But I am glad he and his wife and tell me and my kids what to eat, how to think, what to drive, etc. Worked really well for the Soviet Union through the 80's didn't?

A hysterical rant having no basis in reality, logic or relevance. I guess it ticked a box or two in the Partisan Troll Handbook in that it included the fun phrase "Marxist-in-Chief". Bonus points for the Soviet Union reference, I'm sure.

So if Miss Fluke wants her college's health insurance to pay for her contraception, because its her basic human right. Can I ask for my homeowner's insurance to supply me with a gun because its one of my rights, second amendment?

False Dilemma, Non-sequitur, Straw Man............

The problem with your train of thought is there is always a group of people that exists in your community that believes they are entitled to the fruit of somebody else's labor.

"The problem with socialism is you always run out of other people's money"

Slivertrain,
While I appreciate your reference to the 1762 published Social Contract, it was a French book and well......does that apply to our United States? Should be follow the Communist Manifesto too?

Don't like it when ideas are taken to the logical conclusion? What happened in Germany before WW2?

So, when party thrown at the White house didn't you see? Or would you like to compare golf games played between the last president and this one, and the Left would always make examples of Bush and not caring. Mrs. Obama's food initiative, while eating unhealthy food herself? Or are all these just distractions?

So not to be a Troll is to "go along to get along"? Don't speak up and use the same language or examples as the opposition? Or just keep your mouth shut and be told what to think?

WAIT, WAIT, WAIT......sorry.....I'll put away my conservative Trolling handbook and let you folks get back to your conservative bashing.

But I am glad you are the official supporter of the "free-market" on this site. Since you are here, I'll just go back to my watch/see/laugh mode when it comes to threads on this board.

The problem with your train of thought is there is always a group of people that exists in your community that believes they are entitled to the fruit of somebody else's labor.

The problem with your train of thought is exactly the same: a group of people who believe they are entitled to the fruit of somebody else's labor. Call them capitalists or socialists, there's potential for abuse either way: one can exploit individuals, the other can exploit the system. Historically, at least in this country, I would say the cost in human misery has been more evident in the former case.

"The problem with socialism is you always run out of other people's money"

Unchecked capitalism steadily devours itself, concentrating wealth in the hands of the very few until there aren't enough consumers to support the system. So, in a very real sense, the problem with capitalism is you always run out of other people's money.

Can you provide for us Randians a copy of the "Social Contract"? Just so we know what everybody is entitled too or what I need to provide to the general good, you know a general break down of the levels of society and what each are entitled too and suppose to provide for the the "Betterment of Society".

As for a "Social Contract," since I didn't use the term, I don't feel bound to provide one. The coexistence of individual and social responsibility I was talking about is necessarily a complex, uncertain, and evolving process--an ongoing experiment, if you will. It requires dialogue and negotiation between people of different perspectives, conservative and liberal. I don't have any clear-cut final vision; I just think it's counterproductive to deal in extremes.

"The problem with your train of thought is there is always a group of people that exists in your community that believes they are entitled to the fruit of somebody elses labor..................." Huh.......I would say that this is the definition of every business owner/corporation who pays low wages to his/her employees! It's also the definition of "trust fund" babies!

Maybe you haven't read some of my posts, so for your benefit I will repost what I believe is the current massive debate we are having in this nation. For many many many (too many) years -- we have thought like a nation of individuals. I am entitled to reach my maximum potential at whatever cost to myself (or others). This may be true to a degree. But as a NATION, we must always consider the situations & circumstances of ALL our citizens. IF all are created equal as the Dec of Indp states, all people are NOT created with the same social advantages, intellectual & creative abilities and opportunities.

If you are going to walk a mile in the other persons moccasins --- consider: A) you're 32 and have been laid off from work because your job was outsourced. You've collected 97 weeks of unemployment and have banged on every door you could find and still nothing materializes that would utilize your skills & experience and the only jobs you can find pay 1/3 of what your previous job did. And now -- you're diagnosed with colon cancer. You dropped your medical insurance after your savings ran out because you needed the unemployment just to meet necessary expenses. Pretty bad scenario huh? How about adding a wife and 3 kids to he equation? And then you listen to these assholes going on and on about how "lazy" you are and your just collecting unemployment for the drug money and you should take a job at McDonalds, etc. etc. etc.

You see ----------- the sad part about a personal philosophy that sees others as potential leaches is the gut feeling that YOU are entitled to everything you've earned and scraped and worked for! When all along you need to realize just how fortunate you've been to enjoy good health, a supportive social network, intelligence & emotional stability.

Be very careful in your judgments ---------- life for YOU can turn on a dime and you may just find yourself on the other end of the pissing stream!

When we think like a nation --- the prevailing philosophy will be: When ONE American hurts -- we ALL hurt! I AM indeed my brother's keeper -- not for a hand OUT but for a hand UP!

We are the richest nation on the face of the earth -------- and many industrialized nations much older than us look at us incredulously and wonder how we can treat our OWN in such demeaning and pathetic ways. How can you LOVE America and hate Americans? Or do you honestly believe that the only TRUE Americans are those who have had all the advantages to contribute to what we've become as a nation?

Enough said ---- I'll repeat one point. Be very careful in your judgments. Tomorrow you may wake up at the bottom of the heap instead of the top. Life's fortunes can become an extremely precarious beast!

Trolls worship Limbaugh. Limbaugh pisses on them and they love it. Limbaugh will soon be gone. Fat, ugly, drug-addicted trolls vanish.

I really don't think he'll be gone soon. But, hopefully, and quite possibly, his allure (hard to use that word in this context), such as it is, and his influence (demonstrated this week when zero R candidates condemned his assholery) will be significantly diminished.
