They can always bring him back as his evil twin brother, who will in the midst of some nefarious plot to avenge his sibling's demise be enchanted with the innocence of some naive beauty for whom he will foreswear his dastardly ways for the simple pleasure of her smile.

Ah, such radiance!

LOL Stronso, I visialize you in this Cape Cod-like historical home, driving a 1935 Dusenberg on a weekend antique outing. On the other hand, I am striving to evolve beyond the Atilla the Hun stage. Yesterday I successfully used a knife, fork and cutlery.

Nah.

You've mispegged me my man!

It's a slate grey 1992 Volvo station (or Beach) wagon with my 198,000 original miles we'll be taking to the tip of the Cape. No wasteful spending on ostentatious automobiles for me. Cars, like dogs, have their own personalities you know.

The home thing's pretty accurate however.

(The fact you used the term 'cutlery' alone speaks volumes to your innate potential:wink:)

Since the days of getting off the school bus at 3 pm, and having only one channel on the television to watch (yes, I was raised in the back of the beyond), I have been a fan of "Guiding Light." I have lived through Lucille Wexler, Amanda, Diane Ballard, Kelly, Morgan . . . through Nola and Quint, and the first Alexandra Spaulding . . . still remember Trish Lewis, Roxie Shane, Rusty Shane, Bert Bauer, Rita Bauer . . . Billy and Vanessa . . . Josh and Reva . . . the Reardons . . . ah, and then I got addicted to "As The World Turns" and am delighted, when I get to see it now, when the older characters (Nancy Stuart, Lisa, Bob and Kim) still show up. Unfortunately, work and life no longer allows me to watch these shows. But, once in a while, I can tune in, and it is so easy to slip back into the stories and lives of these interesting old soaps.

btw, my 83 year old mother *is* an addict. if you call her between 2 and 4 in the afternoon, if she bothers to answer the phone, the conversation won't go far.

me - 'hi mom, i just saw on the news that killers are on the loose in your neighborhood. better lock things up tight".

her- "uh huh".

me - "all of your kids have come down with bird flu. we may not live out the month".

her - "yeh".

me - "your lotto numbers won. you are a millionaire".

her - "ok hon thanks for calling love you bye (click)"

Years ago in my first teaching role, several of us were at lunch. One woman in the group announced that she would get up at 4am every Saturday. We thought that she may have a part-time job. No, not that.

During the week, she taped 5 hours worth of soap operas per day. On Saturdays, she would get up at 4 to watch them. She proudly said that she had watched a all of her soaps by 11am. She could fast-forward through the commercials.

Then she said, "Pretty smart, huh!"

All I could do is groan. While some love their soaps, I am not a fan. Never have been.

Days of our Lives is my all time favorite soap opera. I started watching it in the summer of 1995. It was elegant, glamorous and romantic then with good looking and talented actors and actresses. A wonderful form of escapism. The acting, decor, dialogue, music and wardrobe were all remarkable. It was like something from another century. Well, now, it was from another century.

In 2002, I began to notice its decline. Now twenty years later, in 2022, Days is not even the same show anymore. Hollywood is not the same. America has changed. Only four daytime serials remain and they all pale in comparison of what they once were.
