I created this thread because I'm a huge fan of figure skating.

I watched the live streamed finals for men's figure skating yesterday and it was intense!

Gold: Yuzuru Hanyu, Japan
Silver: Patrick Chan, Canada
Bronze: Denis Ten, Kazakhstan

I enjoyed it....but was pulling for Patrick Chan...a great masculine skater. I personally thought he was the better skater of the 3 medalists...
I couldn't believe the tacky, off the shoulder, feminine outfit that Hanyue wore...???...but he did skate well...

ahaha i think that was Hanyu's coming out costume! but i like it, it looks mermaidish..haha

I kindof think that Chan was just playing it safe for silver. but still he's good looks shine!
but the record-breaker Hanyu although had 2 failed landings, remained the level of difficulty on his jumps. its tough this time cos its no longer the errors but really the technical difficulty.

amazing all asians were on top3. Plushenko's withdrawal for me is shady.

enjoy the lot
esp Speed Skating/Figure Skating/Short Track
that relay biz was rather confusing ha, till got the hang of it ..
because we get little of this Snowy/Ice/Skiing stuff down here, on TV that is
its a bonus, sort of preferring the photography etc over the Summer Olympics ..

Feel really bad for Patrick Chan. The opportunity was right there and he missed it. He'll have a hard time getting over this one. If the Japanese guy had of been perfect you write it off to better skating but if Chan had just landed one more jump he would have done it. Too bad. I was really hoping.

It looked like someone had just whipped it up the night before at home. As a gay man, I really should not think this way but all I could think of was "he's wearing a woman's skating outfit. I should be more accepting but it was just, IMO ridiculous. It wasn't like it was even nice....it was just butt ugly.

Who cares about speed skating? Sweden just owned Norway in xc skiing, that's all I care about. Woot!

Man, finally someone who's willing to talk about cross country skiing. I eat all that shit up, the entire season, every year. I'm rooting for Norway, though. I have nothing against the Swedish skiers, but somehow I'm always siding with the Norwegians. I think I suffer from Bjørn Dæhlie syndrome. Seeing how much Norway has sucked throughout this years Winter Olympics, I was kind of anticipating an easy victory for the Swedish team. Apart from the insane run by Legkov, the race wasn't really anything special. Expect for the extend of the collapse of the Norwegian team, which was indeed surprising.

But yesterdays race was amazing! I don't know what the fuck is up with Johaug. It makes me sad. I don't care too much for Bjørgen. But Johaug... :frown1:

Kalla must pretty much be a hero in Sweden right now. What an incredible run by her yesterday.

Yes, Charlotte Kalla just had her life made yesterday. She will forever remain a Swedish icon now, cashing in with endorsements and job offers for life.

I felt sorry for Johaug as well. Can't stand Bjørgen, so I was so pleased to see her smug ass put in its place. Same goes for Petter. That boy and his verbal diarrhoea... I am really happy for the Swedish men. They're a dull bunch, but they worked damn hard with a lot less support than the Norwegians get with their countless millions invested into their xc team for these olympics. I guess their excuse is that the "smørreteam" is to blame for these repeated fiascos.

Don't care much for ice skating, I am a huge fan of sky jumping, downhill (plus Super G) and Biathlon!
I root for Germany (of course) and Austria (I am half Austrian)!

Hah, yeah. Smørreteamet has been blamed for it all...

I must say that I really like Northug. Partly do to his verbal diarrhea. He certainly isn't dull, that's for sure. Even though I'm rooting for him, it's always kinda satisfying to watch him lose. I really hope he will step up and take the 50 km race. I also hope the Swedes will blow the race to pieces to prevent that from happening. But judging from the results during the week (and especially today), I'm willing to bet (and I have) that the 50 km will go to either Cologna or Legkov. And hopefully Johaug.
