No plan to address Social Security, Medicare or the Deficit - Obama forces through another unpaid for entitlement program destined to fail and Pelosi and Reid cheer it, while Obama promises rhetoric.

The Obama agenda is madness. The voters must stop the Dems by voting them out of office in November.

And everybody sees the writing on the wall with Obama's Deficit Commission - Obama will go back on his promise not to raise taxes and attempt to pass the buck. That's not a plan...that's a failure to keep his promise to the American People...and a very read my lips moment coming soon.

What does Social Security have to do with Obama?? He hasn't made any changes to it. It's called an ageing population.

Always with the lies. And they're obvious ones no less. You don't even try to be cunning with the BS you regurgitate anymore. I guess if your sources are lame, so are your arguments made here... Oh well, your loss.

Actually, Obama promised to lower income taxes on the bottom 95% of all wage earners right away once he got in office, and raise them on the top 5% when the recession is over. He kept his word on the first part, and did indeed lower taxes on most workers within a few months of taking office last year. I see no reason why he won't or shouldn't keep his word on the 2nd part (raising taxes on the only people in the country whose income has actually gone up over the past 10 years).

Yeah, social security wasn't set up to keep paying out for 30 years of retirement. Back in the day, people just didn't live that long. Now, people either have to work longer, or save more, because they live longer. It happens.

What does social security have to do with Obama? Nothing unless he's...wait for it....President of the United States.

My statement you quoted has a key word "will" which means in the future.

What will you say if he raises taxes in ANY way on the bottom 95%? (Of course increased taxes for those who make less than $250k are already in the healthcare take over so that promise is pretty much broken already)...but what if he does it straight out by raising income taxes or adding a VAT or National tax? What will you say then?

This is a major problem that must be solved...and they haven't figured out how to solve it yet and we are in the middle of the worst recession in history, Obama is deficit spending at a record pace - and Obama adds another unfunded entitlement to go along with Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security. Lunacy.

The Dems are out in November for being stupid.

This is such a Glenn Beck talking point. I overheard this at a store last night who had the show on one of the monitors. Great job, troll.

How is Social Security going into the red six years early a talking point? Social Security payments are now increasing our deficit and you think its merely a talking point?

The Dems are out in November for being stupid.

There's a plan, they just decided not to tell you since you'd find fault with it, even if it gave you a a life of happiness and luxury with full health coverage for less than a dollar a day.

That, coupled with the fact that the baby boomers are currently collecting. We're going to see a spike in benefits paid as a result.
There's a big difference between something being someone's problem and something being someone's fault.

If congress stopped stealing from SS to pay for government, first time i remember them taking funds was Vietnam, so if you want to blame anyone blame congress. If they would have left it alone it would be there.

Even if it was the best republican ever in office....social security would be going the same way it has been. The government has been spending social security money for DECADES!

"Obama forces through another unpaid for entitlement program"

First of all, Obama didn't force through social security. This is mandatory government spending.

Your luck of knowledge of structure is pronounced, though not surprising. The reason why this is happening is simple -> Payouts are exceeding revenue. So in order to fix this we can do two things.... either increase revenue or cut payouts:

    1) We can definitely increase revenues by removing the cap on the payroll tax...so that rich people can pay the same payroll tax to income proportion that the rest of us pay. But of course, as a conservative you'd be against this.... you'd rather:

    2) Cut social security benefits.

Now I ask you this: is it morally sound to cut benefits to seniors? The people who have worked all their lives to build this nation? To provide US the life that we are living? Are you okay with grandma and grandpa getting social security cuts? If you do, then I pity you.

The fact that you conservatives are more willing to cut benefits for grandma and grandpa than to increase pay roll tax, so that people who make over $200,000 pay the same proportion of their income to social security than the rest of us, is telling of your nature as human beings.

^That's right... These are the same 'pro-life' sociopaths who want to ban abortions, but also have no interest in providing funding for programs to help ensure those unwanted children do't grow up to be tomorrow's criminals... These are the same 'pro-life' sociopaths who cheer for public executions (often for crimes faaar below the current threshold for a death sentence)... Thus, it is perfectly logical that these same 'pro-life' sociopaths actually favor government policies that will kill off grandma before her time, and transfer her hard earned pension to their own bank account.

    +1

    Superb post...

This is why I eagerly affix the term 'sociopath' to any conservative I encounter who spouts off such evil ideas like cutting social security benefits to people who are actually receiving them, or soon will.

Current SS recipients are people who worked and budgeted their entire lives, counting on the social security they earned being there when they need it. That anyone in a later generation would think it morally acceptable for the nation to turn its back on these people after they lived their entire lives paying taxes and fighting in numerous wars in the name of this country leaves no other reasonable name to describe them... They are in fact SOCIOPATHS.

America's obese children will be the savior of Social Security. None will live past 67 to collect anything.

There is a bright side to the obesity epidemic in this country!
