Something weird has been happening to me since July.

I received oral sex for the first time (I was a virgin) but had difficulty keeping it up. My erection just wouldn't get rock hard like it usually does. Even prior to then, I had trouble getting completely hard when I would masturbate. It occured to me one day that masturbationg a lot might weaken erections, and shortly thereafter, my erections actually became weaker.

A few weeks ago, I had sex for the first time and my erection was soft then, too. I'm 22, going on 23, and can't see why I'm having this problem. I used to masturbate several times a day to pornography (sometimes 7 or 8 times, if not more). I don't do it that much anymore, especially since I'm worried that it has been the cause of the aforementioned problems. My penis even feels a bit different. Sometimes, it seems like it would rather go limp when stimulated than become erect.

I do recall having experienced this problem before, and then, after refraining from masturbation for a full month, my penis would get rock hard again.

Is it possible that I'm over-doing it? Can one masturbate too much, or is it all psychological? I'm so worried about this.

I masturbate 2-3 times a day and I also experience what you're talking about. I'm not sure how to solve it, but I think that it first starts with overdoing it, and then since you fear it psychologically, that is what the new factor is. You fear having a weak one, so then you actually get a weak one, and the cycle continues.

Do you know if it's normal for a guy to be somewhat limp his first time?

I say this WAY too much, I know, but go see your doctor about this. It could be harmless, but since it's been happening for a bit, is interfering with your sex life, and has you worried, it can't help to get a professional opinion. I have known young men with what the TV commercials like to call "ED," so don't feel embarrassed. It happens. Maybe a trip to the doctor even if it's just to hear that you're okay may help. Then again, it could be something physical that needs some sort of medical intervention. It can't hurt to err on the safe side and speak to a professional.

Good luck, and keep us updated.

The things that make my erections soft are:
uncertainty and doubt
fatigue
fear guilt and anxiety
lack of stimulation

Do see your doctor, but remember that most of your problems are most likely to be fear or anxiety based. It is unusual for your erections to suddenly change like that, and there is probably nothing mechanically wrong with you.

Howdy Mouth - How do your erections feel in the morning when you just wake up? If you are waking up with full on morning wood, chances are it's an anxiety issue of some kind.

I had this same issue about 6 months ago. I didn't think my wood was hard enough and had kind of a middle age panic. But when I saw my unit was fully hard in the early AM, I came to the conculsion I was doing sex out of habit and not out of a real need, so it was kind of half hearted.

You also mention the problem is linked to oral sex and you're kind of new to it. Not all guys get off on getting oral and not all guys get wood/keep wood getting head. You might be one of them - it's not uncommon.

I don't really get morning wood anymore, but have a tendency to fantasize and sort of hump my mattress in my sleep. My erection only gets semi-hard then, too.

PLEASE go to a physician. If you're still on your parents' insurance, lie. This is really important. If you don't know, find out if you have an HMO, PPO, or indemnity plan. With an HMO you usually need a referral from your primary physician to see a specialist, but if you have a PPO you can see a specialist. Same with indemnity. I suggest that if you have a PPO or an indemnity plan, go straight to the urologist. They're specialists in male reproductive disorders.

Other note, try doing Kegels. Kegels strengthen erections and ejaculation. They're an awesome exercise, easy to do, and you can do them anywhere. They are, however, no substitute for seeing a doctor.

I've been to urologists for ages because I've had a host of issues from prostatitis to low testosterone and that was in my 20s! Please don't let embarrassment keep you away. Physicians see a hundred dicks a day, yours will be no different. Urologists in particular know how to be cool about your problem and when you walk out of the office I guarantee you'll wonder what kept you from going.

Don't screw with your penis. It's the only one you've got.

bah all this doctor talk

nonsense.

Sometimes you can't get a woody because of the situation. I often can't get my knob hard enough with new experiences, but on repeat experiences it's hard enough to bang in nails.

My first time, I couldn't get it fully hard. Don't worry, you are normal. Just stop wanking so much. Get the morning woodies back, natures sign that you are up for it. I often leave my morning wood along these days, which has in turn given me a rock solid cock for any action that might take place in my bed after a few drinks down at the bar...

We don't all get strong erections... Maybe you should exploit the flexibility of your snake-like hard-on... just a thought!!!!!

I'm going to see a doctor about it. I think my problem may be psychological, though, 'cause today I beat off without being concerned as to how hard my penis got. Sure enough, it got rock hard. That's so weird.

I think you was just nervous. I would try a few more times before I ran off to the Dr. After all you have been hard since. It is probably performance anxiety. If it is you will get over it with time.

It's been six months, I can't see how consulting a doctor would hurt, even just to ease anxieties. Plus, we all need to get a routine physical once a year anyway, and this sounds like a good enough excuse to go get it done.

We all pay out the ass for health insurance. If you've got it, use it, you know?
