I purchased a new computer which does NOT have Microsoft Office on it. A friend transferred all my picture files to the new computer but I have a couple of slight problems.

    1) I transferred some of my pics to CD's but they won't play in my DVD player (used to......don't know what happened. Should I NOT have put them on a permanent CD but a re-writeable???

2nd) When I click on "slide show" on my folders, my GIF files don't move!! If I click on them individually I get action, but in the slide show mode -- nada. They USED to move on my old computer. What program am I missing to make my GIFS viewable in motion on the slide show?

Keep it simple folks -- I'm NOT a computer expert as you can well see!!

    Thanks!!

You have to Burn them too Cd using Windows Media Player. Simply by transferring them too CD will not work. Use CDR- discs. Not CDRW. They are more compatible with DVD players. Get a new CD and use the same method you would as burning a music CD. However use the Data burning option in Windows Media Player because its (data) photos. Simply add the pics just as you would songs too the list and burn. Its very easy and Windows Media Player works very good with this. Also try adding the whole folder of pics too the burn list. See if that works. The DVD player should play everything in that folder one pic after another.

When you put in the CD, if a little box pops open asking for a name to the CD/DVD you need to click on "Format" or "Formatting" and select Mastered. I believe the default is Windows Live CD/DVD and that isn't usually readable by anything but Windows PC's. It won't make a difference if you use CD-R or CD-RW discs that way.

Sorry -- it's just for emphasis because people read quickly and I wanted that particular aspect to be noticed!

The gifs may be corrupt or just not burned correctly. Also always burn at the slowest speed to insure a good burn and good quality. Whether its pics, movies or music. As i said use Cd-r or DVD- R as they are more compatible with DVD players and will work fine on your computer also. What brand of discs are you using? In rare cases sometimes burners will not burn a certain brand of discs. Nothing wrong with burner or the discs. Sometimes its whatever works for you is the best. Also when you are burning don't have any other activity such as surfing, other programs running, or it won't burn right. Don't do anything else on your computer while you are burning.
