Coming clean, I will admit: I used a rainfall calculator.
(If you google, you'll find lots of them.)
But then, seeing the result, it became obvious that one litre will fill a square meter to a depth of one millimeter.
Oh you big cheater!!
Stupid me -- I jumped through the following hoops:
One litre is equal to 0.001 cubic metre
Litre - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
so 187 litres would equal .187 cubic metres
1 L≈ 61.0237441cubic inches
Litre - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
1 metre≈39.37inches
Metre - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
So 1 cubic metre would be 61,023.38 cubic inches (39.37^3)
So if you got .187 cubic metres then you have 61,023.38 times .187 or 11,411.37 cubic inches.
To spread those cubic inches among a metre, I took 39.37 squared (1549.997) divided into 11,411.37 equals 7.362189 inches.
There is no doubt an easier way than bludgeoning my gray matter -- like, say, oh, USING A RAINFALL CALCULATOR!!!!!! but some of us have integrity! :biggrin1:
