Anything that appears in nature, it is per definition 'natural'.

It's not 'normal', however, because most people aren't gay.

You are getting confused here.
Natural means that it happens in nature when left to itself unfettered by outside influence.

Normal used where the majority do or do not do something is referring to the norm - by the use of this term, it is normal to have an average IQ , i.e. between 90 and 110. Therefore I with an IQ in the region of 150 am by definition ab-normal, I am outside of the norm. But averages are just that, it does not mean that those or that which lies outside of the 'norm' are un-natural.

Most people are not particularly bright or intelligent it does not mean that they should or that we would wish them to be stoned, (although at times I can think of some exceptions to that :tongue - but my humanity gets the better of me.

It could be thus argued that because the average length of a man's penis is around 6 inches that all those with one at the extreme of length as represented by this forum, should be put down as being un-natural. Would that be fair, would it be right, would it be just? I venture to suggest that it would not.

Why is it that there are those who would decry those who are not inclined to pro-create and yet if there is anything about them that lies outside of the norm, at the extremes of a normal distribution hold it up as a facet of themselves or yet as a virtue.

I decided to look up the definition of "unnatural" in dictionary.com. I was struck by the 4th definition listed.

"lacking human qualities or sympathies; monstrous; inhuman: an obsessive and unnatural hatred."

Now I ask. Are those who show no compassion towards gay men and women the ones who are truly unnatural?

InChamad, you don't have to be atheist to disagree with the stereotypical "religious" view, and you should stop dismissing your opponents as such.

Someone who disagrees with the major monotheistic religions would probably not agree with your view. (And you shouldn't be able to blame or judge them -- even the religions can't get agree on their principles. And if one religion is wrong according to another religion, what determines which one you really "should" believe in?)

Try to understand that, and see that people who disagree with you aren't simply arbitrarily choosing something else. They have their reasons, too, as do you.

Yet how are we to know what God wants? Through scripture? And if so, then through which of the many conflicting scriptures?

This is why many people don't believe in a given religion. It seems silly to them to agree to and devote their lives to some set of rules that, as it seems, have been determined arbitrarily.


But perhaps you've given the nonbelievers up as lost causes. Is it true to your religion to allow them to be doomed? (To borrow your phrasing, if a child is about to be hit and possibly killed by a train, can you sit by idly and dismiss it as his or her own doing?) If you were being true to your belief, you should probably be trying to convince nonbelievers of your belief. As we see, convincing people by yelling at them, or in your case, by dismissing them as wrong, clearly doesn't work. You should open up and have the patience to try to reach them instead. And clearly, saying things such as

You are miserable....

You could be Atheist, I do not blame you....

will not help.

Or maybe you just don't care. Either way, you should be acting humble, if anything, rather than self-righteous.

murder, rape & bullying are all behaviours found naturally in humans and some great apes.
