I just went to perform my annual ritual of voting in the Triple J Hottest 100 songs of the year poll (biggest annual music poll in the world now apparently) and was shocked to realise that 2009 was such a bad
year for music!

Any songs people care to throw out there as their favourite for 2009, I might throw a few spare votes their way ;)

My songs so far:

Little Lion Man - Mumford and Sons
Muse - Resistance
Muse - United States of Eurasia
Kasabian - Where Did All The Love Go?
Phoenix - 1901
Phoenix - Lasso

Struggling to come up with more!!

Yes! I actually prefer Winter Winds, but they're both cool.

'Sweet Disposition' - Temper Trap
'Drumming' - Flo' and the Machine
'Fire' - Kasabian (or is that 2008? In which case, 'Underdog')
'I Remember' - Deadmau5 & Kaskade
'Walking On a Dream' - Empire of the Sun (2008?)

Phoenix sound good (just checked 'em out!). Haven't heard them before.

Quite like French bands tho, like Air and Daft Punk.

Impressions of Vampire Weekend's new one (Cousins)?

Sounds quite like A-Punk, imo.

I just heard this one! Although it was recorded in 2009, it actually in my opinion counts as one of the first songs of 2010, since the album was officially released on January 11.

Thing is, my tastes go all over the place and I like music combinations that generally people who like one genre hate the other and vice versa. Like I listen to both indie rock AND mainstream pop, for instance. And I thought 2009 was actually a pretty good year for fun fluff music. Not so good for music with substance lyric-wise, but maybe we need the distraction of the fluff right now.
