Do you have a song that when you hear it, just puts you right there with your lover and brings back such emotion you can't stand it? I have afew, but one of the best is "In Your Eyes" written by Peter Gabriel (Although I like his bandmate's cover better) ...All my instincts, they return and the grand facade, so soon will burn without a noise, without my pride I reach out from the inside In your eyes the light the heat in your eyes I am complete in your eyes I see the doorway to a thousand churches in your eyes the resolution of all the fruitless searches in your eyes I see the light and the heat in your eyes oh, I want to be that complete I want to touch the light the heat I see in your eyes ... What's your song?
This is a song well its one of my faves because as another fan said its the 'soundtrack to my life'. Anyways this song tells how I felt meeting my girlfriend and how great she is Shine Let me know what you think everyone! BTW in case you're wondering about it being illegal. Yes downloading copyrighted MP3s is illegal and I know no one here does that but the song is from the band's site and they allow you to download it as a preview of their album. Get it, its a great song
I adore Peter Gabriel, but this song's always bugged me a little. See, I just don't want anyone touching my eyes.
orionsword57: There's something about the song... "Didn't We Girl?" that just burrows right down to my soul. "This time... we almost made the pieces fit.... didn't we girl?.... This time... we almost made some sense of it.... didn't we girl?.... This time... we almost made our poem rhyme This time... we almost made that long dark climb... Didn't we almost make it... this time?" I lost my incredible wife too soon. Sorry to be maudlin, folks.
Me and Bobby McGee... a song about very deep connection with someone and humid summer days... The line that really kills me is so true about getting older and leaving behind your friendships of you teens and 20's: But Iâd trade all of my tomorrows for one single yesterday To be holding bobbyâs body next to mine.
Hey, Lex -- I agree that "In Your Eyes" is great, although Mindseye's critique is also very valid ... yikes!! My personal fave is "Beautiful Day" by U2 ... we had it played at some point during our wedding reception and it just encapsulated so perfectly how I felt about everything that day. Plus, the general theme of the song as I understand it -- make the most of every day, "don't let it slip away" -- really resonates with my own personal life philosophy. Steve
'Beautiful Day' is a great song. Others by U2 that stir me inside are 'Pride' and 'One'. 'The Living Years' by Mike and the Mechanics (remember them?) As for romantic songs, how about Eric Clapton's 'Wonderful Tonight'? LapDog
I was watching VHI an there was a "Remembering the Eighties" thing showing. I like Eighties music (I don't know why; I'm too young to remeber the songs when they first come out, so it's not nostalgia), and there were two videos by Asia. Asia's really big hit was Don't Cry, but the other one showed was of a song called The Smile Has Left Your Eyes. I don't know exactly why that song touched me, but it did. I went out and bought a CD with the song on it, and I still listen to it often.
Wow, I don't think I know that one, what album is it on? I like "Liquid Diamonds" off of Choirgirl Hotel. Beautiful piano work, gives me goosebumps.
Dylan. Tangled up in Blue. About meeting up years later with a lover who has totally captured your soul, but destiny keeps it from working: She lit a burner on the stove, and offered me a pipe Thought you'd never say hello, she said, you looked like the silent type Then she opened up a book of poems and handed it to me Written by an Italian poet from the 15th century And every one of those words rang true They glowed like burning coals Pouring off of every page Like they were written in my soul From me to you Tangled up in blue Twenty years after I first heard that song, I still get tears in my eyes and goosebumps when I think of those lines I put in italics. I am right now, shaking slightly.
I say a lot of things sometimes that don't come out right And I act like I don't know why I guess a reaction's all I was lookin for You looked through me, you really knew me Like no one has ever looked before Anyways other songs that well I like and appreciate and have on playlists are She's Gone and Sara Smile by Hall And Oates, as well as Don't Turn Your Back On Me, Soul Violins and Do It For Love by those two, but they're lesser known songs...still great though. Also Over My Heart by Eric Martin, I was seein if it was a cover and Laura Brannigan did it but Eric wrote it for her, its a very cool song. When you told me you love me I got lost for a minute Tangled in silence and nothin to say I was in love but I didn't know it The look on my face was a dead giveaway I cut that short, but there are also many Richie Kotzen songs I like a lot such as Soul To Soul, Let's Say Goodbye, Rely On Me etc. Also To Be With You by Mr. Big is a great song. And I cut this post short lol.
Another: "Come to My Window" by Melissa Ethridge especially like the 1st Verse and the Bridge I would dial the numbers just to listen to your beath And I would stand inside my hell and hold the hand of death You don't know how far I'd go to ease this vicious ache And you don't know how much I'd give and how much I could take Just to reach you, just to reach you, to reach you, ooooooohhh Come to my Window crawl inside wait by the light of the moon Come to my Window I'll be home soon Keeping my eyes open I can not afford to sleep And giving away promises I know that I can't keep Nothing fills the blackness that has seeped into my chest I need you more than life, I am forsaking all the rest Just to reach you, just to reach you, to reach you, ooooooohhh I don't care what they think!! I don't care what they say!! What do they know about this love, Anyway?!?!
LOL ... sorry, Lex, but I can never listen to that song with a straight face anymore ... I had a friend in college who would parody it by singing "Come ON My Window" or even "Come THROUGH My Window" ... (Hey, this is relevant to the LPSG, no??) Steve
Don't forget the song by Fountains of Wayne: "Stacy's Mom" That song has tons of potential. I always tend to insert a random friend's name in for Stacy though...
I know most of you don't remember Bob Seger, but his song Turn The Page is one with which I can identify.
