I thought you were talking about a major democrat politician, not this woman that have never been seen in international press or a politician who's not even american. But they shocked me a little, very interesting irrelevant information.
your welcome !
"Rosalynn and I share our sympathies with the Castro family and the Cuban people on the death of Fidel Castro. We remember fondly our visits with him in Cuba and his love of his country. We wish the Cuban citizens peace and prosperity in the years ahead." Jimmy Carter

"We extend our condolences to the Cuban people today as they mourn the passing of Fidel Castro. Over more than half a century, he played an outsized role in their lives, and he influenced the direction of regional, even global affairs.

As our two countries continue to move forward on the process of normalization — restoring the economic, diplomatic and cultural ties severed by a troubled past — we do so in a spirit of friendship and with an earnest desire not to ignore history but to write a new and better future for our two peoples.

The United States reaffirms its support for deepening our engagement with the Cuban people now and in coming years." John Kerry, little democrat i admit .....

What's the big deal? Castro was in fact a huge figure in the lives of Cubans, revered by many of them (and of course, hated by many as well). He introduced major innovations in healthcare and education, even if the long term results can be questioned. And yes, along with everything else, he had a terrible record when it came to the basic human rights of his opponents.

More to the point, the man just died. Of course world leaders are going to put the best spin they can on their eulogies--it's expected in these circumstances. And even so, if you read between the lines, many of the comments above are far from ringing endorsements.

Mistr_1973 is showing his primary colors, even though Ms. Lee supports robust military aid to his home county

Lee comment was obviosly innapropriate. Castro was dictator who murdered basically all his opposition, used psychiatric torture against dissidents, build concentration camps, transformed Cuba in a massive prison state with his no-emigration policy, eliminated every vestige of democracy in the country, banned independent unions. You should considerate him like a less beligerant third-worldly Hitler.
It's acceptable that heads of state make sympathizing comments, for diplomatic purpuses, but Lee's comments are unjustifiable.

The head of the US Green Party who just filled for a recount of the votes in Wisconsin, Jill Stein. She is a good example of the way the radical left considers a right winger who hasn't committed any crime to be worse than someone who killed, tortured and oppressed in the name of socialism.

Look, no one writes 'This guy was a shithook' in the Book of Condolences at the Funeral Home.
I am amazed and ashamed by the hypocrisy of Americans who found something nice to say about Castro.
It's rather like all those republicans who couldn't say enough bad things about Trump, but are now sanguine toward him
because it looks as though he will restore Republican seating arrangements at the political trough in DC, just when most of them thought it was probably over.

Back to Castro. I literally don't care what his accomplishments were in terms of literacy and medical care for the Cuban people. That's what he owed them, and frankly it's all he could do, given he had precluded doing much else for them. He made his choice of friends and his people suffered for it. Stubbornly wrong to the end of his life.

What I remember is that this asshole literally brought the world to the brink of destruction by allowing the Russians to bring nuclear weapons to Cuba. He would not have been the cause of nuclear war, but the enabler of it. And frankly, with regards to murder and brutal oppression, Castro was guilty of everything his critics say he was.

Let's also remember that Republicans like Kissinger and Nixon got cozy with Chinese and Soviet regimes who oppressed and starved their citizens, jailed or murdered their political opponents: Kissinger called the go-along, get-along accommodation of Russia and China and their satellites realpolitik. They're as much cowardly hypocrites as Carter and others who say nice things now about that bag of worm-food and rottenness, Fidel Castro.

And the Catholic Church's popes playing up to Castro? About as morally repugnant as it gets, but it's a well-entrenched political role for the Holy Roman Catholic Church, like its support of Franco, Mussolini, and the Nazis. Popes have historically hiked that white skirt up over their heads for centuries. Ugh.

And there's something to be said for seeing Castro as the USA's political blunder: if we had funded his opposition to Battista and supported him militarily when he was just a rebel and not a red, things might have been different. But no, we supported the dictator Battista and Americans took lots of profits from Battista's corrupt Cuba. Let's see which dictators Trump chooses to buddy up with... he's already licked Putin's ass.

Why wait to see what dictators Trump buddies up with..Your selective amnesia of history argument is silly and childish.

Ahh.sour grapes..you're still pissed off about this commentary over 40 years ago..when he criticized Israel over the Occupied Terrotories..Castro was complimenting in the 50's and 60's, about the socialist kibbutz , Israel even opened diplomatic relations, opening an embassy in the 50's in Havana, even though the two were at odds in the Cold War,
But relations soured during the 70's when Fidel saw the Zionists for what they really were, and began criticizing their colonial/occupations, and their Mossad sponsored attacks around the world.

Dude, I know it's easy to think some of us fairies are being hyperbolic. But I swear all of these threads that got me to finally post in the politics section, it's like I'm dreaming. With each pick, each controversy, trump making twitter posts every other day about is picks.
