I've just started sounding, but have friends that have been doing it for quite a while. Sounding should not cause bladder infection as you are not entering the bladder. I do clean my sounds with cavicide and try to keep them as clean as possible when playing. A friend that is seriously into this gave up catheter play as he was good about keeping a sterile field, but still got two bladder infections. The urethral does stretch and get sore--the next day when I piss for the first time and some time second there is a bit of burning, but that just reminds me I had fun the day before!

Don't use glass, don't use other things, invest in good quality sounds, a good disinfectant, maybe even a pressure cooker to "autoclave" them at home, use good quality lube that has not been contaminated, and enjoy.

There are specialty order items, even sex shops that you can walk into and pick these things up in. The sounds that is. Sterility, cleanliness - paradigm.
