I have tried sounding a few times, and I really love the sensation. I do it very gently and slowly and use plenty of surgical lube and a sterile sound, but every time I have a burning sensation afterwards, when cumming or peeing later. It's uncomfortable enough to make me not want to do it again.

I was wondering if anyone has some advice or tips, because I really want to try more. Does it get better eventually? Should I do it differently?

That burning sensation is very natural. Your poor urethra isn't used to being used like that. It will get better over time. Just always make sure to use the sterile lube and a sterile sound!

At the beginning it burnt a little, now I no longer feel this sensation after I have used my 1cm sound.
But I manage to urinate afterwards in order to clean my urethra...

That is basically what I said. But most people don't know how to boil it properly to sterilize the sounding rods. You should wash it with a mild soap and water before the boiling process. Then you need to boil the rods for at least 10 minutes. After the rods have cooled, then they are considered to be sterilized. (There are other ways to sterilize them too.)

What size and type of sound are you using? I have a Hegar set of solid, smooth, good quality stainless steel rods in different sizes. I usually settle on about a 10 or 12 mm diameter, and they cause no burning, even with quite rigorous use.

I have other sounds which are hollow or ribbed, and these I have to be more careful with. The hollow ones are nice, especially if you cum while sounding, but the end lip of the sound can rub more inside and cause soreness, so more lube is needed. Likewise, any ribbing on the surface can cause the burn.

If, like me, you enjoy moving the sound in and out quite rapidly, then smooth, solid steel is your best option. They are also much easier to keep clean.

When I try to sound while erect, I find my urethra tightens up so I can barely get 6-8mm in.

Also, I recently bought an enema tube off Amazon for $10, twenty inches long and 12mm diam. , silicone and silky smooth. I can snake it to the bladder, but haven't dared to go in with that diameter.

I usually prefer stainless steel, but wanted something long AND flexible AND moderately thick.
The enema tube made it to the bladder easily, much fatter than most hollow tube toys. I have added a picture in my album.
