Associate US Supreme Court Justice, David Souter, is going to be retiring from the court in June according to CNN. Who will replace him and will it make a difference?

Of course it will make a difference :) It is reported that he will pick a woman nominee. I would guess that whoever it is will be moderate and not too left leaning because of the composition of the Senate. But I can hope!

I guess this is the retirement that Ginsburg hinted at a few months ago. I assumed that she was the one planning on leaving. I am sure the republicans are upset that he did not leave late last year. I don't expect the idelogical composition of the court to change much- it will be another moderate that will get nominated to the court. IMO it needs to be a woman of color.

I guess this means Kennedy plans on dying on the bench- if he is not going now, I doubt he will ever go.

Obama's Supreme Court nominations is just one of the many reasons I exulted in his election.

Exactly!! If McCain had won this would be a DISASTER. Life as we know it would end if the Scalia's and his rubber stamp dunce Thomas's could gain another seat. I was shocked at how many people failed to take this into their decision.
