Southern Decadence '09

I'm planning to go to New Orleans in Sept. of this year for Southern Decadence (SD), and I wanted some tips from those of you who either live in New Orleans or have been to SD several times.

For example, where's a good hotel at which to stay?
Where are the "hot" places to visit for the best action (preferably gay action)?

as far as hotel i would say the drury, its cheaper than basically every place nin the quarter, and only about a 2-3 block distance from bourbon itself. its a very decent walk when youre drunk, nothing you cant handle.
