Although John Wayne has an airport named after him, I do not believe he had license to fly commercial Jets. I cannot imagine what would be said if his reanimated corpse broke into an airplane cockpit to slap the pilot.

I used to like John Wayne until I learned what a bigoted, close-minded person he was.

We live in Newport Beach where the late actor resided until passing away in 1979. John Wayne was not a pilot, and in fact used to regularly complain about noisy JT8D powered Air California Boeing 737-200s and similarly equipped Hughes Airwest DC-9-30s overflying his house as they departed Orange County airport. Very shortly after after he died of stomach cancer the Orange County Board of Supervisors renamed the airport after him. However the designator is still SNA for Santa Ana, the city where the little 5,700 foot main runway is located.

Please go back to lurking the site. Ya participation thus far is several shades of suck.
Lets do a head to head comparison. Sully..also a vet landed a plane with BOTH engines out...had to land on water AND no fatalaties.

The comparison is simple.

Neither pilot did the one thing that would ensure hundreds of fatalities...panic.

Both pilots (having avoided panic) executed procedures with which they were very familiar to get their aircraft and its occupants safely back to earth. And both pilots communicated with ATC whilst doing so.

Simple as that.

Literally the only time I see that @swingfun fuckster is when he's spewing troll vomit in this specific subforum.

Someone has a grudge. I'm guessing there are several factors at play... I just feel sorry for him. Must be a shitty way to live. Hopefully fuckster learns how to love himself at some point. If not, it's gonna be a lonely life. No one wants to kick it with the self-loathing pity-partiers.

Easy there. Not everyone in the south drags their hands along the ground as they walk.

Cheers!

True enough :)

Although "The South" to me is synonymous with "the Southeast". I consider us to be in "the Southwest". Yee haw!

To me, huge difference between Texas and Oklahoma.

Comparing state against state, sure. But pick an Oklahoma town at random and you can generally find a similar town in Texas. The biggest area of difference I really see is all the reservation land in Oklahoma.

I should clarify something. Texas is a huge state. Excepting the reservations and casinos, I think much of Oklahoma you can find areas in Texas that feel similar, but the reverse isn't true. There's a lot of Texas that feels nothing like anything in Oklahoma.

Most people do not think of Texas as "the South" most people think of Texas as "the West"

In a lot of ways Texas would have more in common with North Dakota than it does with Alabama

Both have big farms, both have big ranches, both have oil wells. both have roads that are straight as an arrow for 50 miles with a good front end alignment you can go 5 miles without touching the wheel

Both have cowgirls

Alabama not so much
