I love speedos where I have to wear something that hides my genitals. For me I go as small as possible: thin sides, low rise and narrow back (best of all thong back)

A few miles up the coast there is a crescent shaped beach that has gentle waves. Ocean swimmers favor this beach, and ALL of them wear Speedo type suits. I love to swim there, and always wear a swim brief. The ocean temperature is 70 degrees today!

I had a straight friend come visit me in FL and he was open to wearing speedos, but mine were too small on him, it's actually good he didn't because he is from Canada and ended up getting really sunburnt.

I've been wearing briefs at Fire Island for a while now. I wear skinzwear. And it's a head turner.

Be aware the skinzwear swimsuits are a lot smaller than they look. The one that I use is one of their most conservative options. I also got a rio/french bikini style, which is a mid range style in terms of coverage. Did a try on with my partner and she said it was way too small for a public beach. The coverage in the front was too small for me. Basically my cock was coming out when I was flacid, but my package is bigger than average. And it came out when erect. So that was not an option for me.

For you guys who have an above than average package size, then the moderate styles should work well for you. Don't get the smaller coverage sizes.

If you have an average package size then the smaller coverage sizes should work.

I wear my briefs at Fire Island. And I should have mentioned Gunnison as well, but I don't go there very often.

I break all the rules re Speedos, but I don't care. I use the to swim, not to ponce about in. I'd rather of course swim naked, but I don't get along with standard swim shorts. They balloon up.

I've been looking for a pair of Speedos like I had before with 5cm sides. The smallest they seem to do now is 7cm. A pair of 5cm ones is for sale on eBay, but the seller wants £76 for them!

Well Gunnison is great because it has a nude beach.

So, I would recommend that you go with a more "conservative" style speedo (brief) style, lined. I use skinzwear briefs, their moderate style. I did a tryon with my partner before I used it. She looked at it and thought it was borderline risque, but acceptable for a public beach.

The swimsuit didn't look to revealing in the catalog. But when I first tried it on my partner looked at it and said "wow that's small."

Just remember before you go out, in the states brief type swimsuits are pretty much only used on the gay beaches. People here are not accustomed to seeing men in brief swimsuits. Even on Fire Island where alot of guys are wearing briefs, I do get eyeballed by the suburban moms, because they don't ever see buff scantily clad men. So you really want to keep it classy not creepy.

About a third of guys wear speedos at my gym outdoor pool in California - lots of whom are Str8 guys.

Yes Straight competitive swimmers will wear speedos. Outside of that in the US, it's gay guys.

I was a competitive swimmer when I was a teenager which is why I have a speedo fetish now.

A swimmer, so typically they are all I wear. Nothing too skimpy or revealing. Have been wearing them since high school. Seeing a lot more guys of all ages wearing them comfortably at the pools for lap swimming.

For swimming laps, I'd say the majority of guys I see of all ages wear a speedo or brief type swimwear here. Most aren't competitive swimmers, I'd say. It's just more a matter of comfort. I agree with waistbanz that most aren't the really skimpy or overly revealing ones, like semi-transparent or anything like that. They just feel so much more stream-lined in the water, with less drag and more comfort.

Wore swim briefs to 3 beaches and 4 public pools all last week, no funny looks or comments made my way. A giggle from a young couple that I could clearly tell was directed at me, but never made me uncomfortable. This is in Canada, but to my surprise I crossed paths with one other Speedo wearer, German accent I believe, still caught me off guard because I am usually the only one wearing a swim brief haha.

One good thing about the rise of speedos in popularity lately is that now there is much more variety in cuts and styles for different male body types. Most of the time you could only get the very sharp and barely there cuts ala European style.

Now though, you got places like Aussiebum and Noodlebagz offering more fuller and more modest cuts but still have that speedo style. It certainly opened up the costume more to more body types.
