Could someone fix the spelling in the title so that grammar is spelled correctly?

Does anyone else want to edit thread titles? I'll offer.

Because of the profession I am in, I have learned to read through all different levels of spelling and grammar skills over the years. I won't make an issue of improper usage on a web site seeing as we have those who are writing in a second language. However, I have found that our second language posters are more conscientious writing in a second language than those writing in their primary language. I tend to take the writer less seriously the more I find mistakes in their post. There are wonderful writers at this site to use as examples—look at Just Asking, Bbucko, Vinyl Boy, or the late Maxcok to name a few. Making the effort to write well is an important skill whether it is in the professional world or at a site like this. I see good writing skills as being courteous to those with whom you wish to express your thoughts.

Grammar, punctuation and spelling are important factors for readabiity, but I've become far less judgmental about it the older I get. Sometimes poorly spelled posts contain diamonds of ideas, or heartfelt contributions. I don't mind plowing through if it's worth it. Besides, I make plenty of mistakes myself. If I'm posting from my phone, my brain goes faster than my thumbs; if I have a migraine, I'm all foggy; if I forget my reading glasses I can't read what I'm typing. I'm very forgiving.

I just wanted to note that the quoted post is both grammatically beautiful and syntactically delicious.

Those of us - and I'm pointing the accusatory finger directly at me - who find fault with some people's posts should remember to celebrate the great ones in equal measure.

Meh! Unless I am trying to be articulate or treading upon a touchy subject, I don't worry about injecting my own jive thang into ramblings. In my eyes, at least half the topics here are semi-serious and full of conjecture, so I never feel like I am writing to a critical audience. Prim and proper spelling combined with grammatical perfection has a place, but I don't think internet forums are their prime audience.

I adore the "works" of MickeyLee and they are anything but conventional. Pointed, personal, and vivid writings always win. Whether or not an "i" is capitalized, or a comma is in the correct location is of no consequence to me... the forum is casual, so I believe a casual tone is all that need apply.

LOLZ u shudn't use contractionz, tis bad writin' form!
Faaaaaack offfff!

Well said!

my 2cents

Grammar, I'm not as put off with as much as spelling. If I do catch something I misspelled or the phrasing does not say what I mean I make an effort to go back and edit. I'm not perfect but there are some basic grammar rules that I do try to follow, for example "a" and "an" simple if the next word starts with a consonant (any letter except aeiou) use "a" if a vowel use "an". "I had a orgasm last night". WRONG." I had an orgasm last night." CORRECT. " See the man with a big cock he is an ass."
Grammar lesson for the day.

Text language is another thing. I stop reading when every other word or phrase is an abbreviation or short cut. LOL:wink:

I find the intricacies of written English very interesting, it changes slightly in different parts of the world. I generally don't like Americanised English, because sometimes the changes make no positive impact. However, logical changes make perfect sense and I find them charming. It also reveals a lot about the person and their nationality, if English isn't someone's native language, they might make a simple 'error' which reveals a fundamental difference between languages. For example, the Japanese put the surname first. So, rather than calling Mr John Smith, Mr Smith - they would say Mr John. In this way, it's meetings of culture and language that trigger language evolution and, indeed, the creation of new languages. This is positive and a step-forward. What does irritate me, is faux-evolution. Some people will say, "In that case, I imagine you can speak fluent Latin. Language evolves! Things change!" This is a valid point, but - I've seen it used in defence of, "I turned the switch of." Or, "...your won of them people..." A mistake is forgivable, but such a defence is not. Basically, I will correct people if they have the wrong attitude regarding grammar. Otherwise, I won't bother except in jest - I mean, I'm far from a grammatical-god.

As opposed to people deliberately starting threads with a view to baiting others....that's just irritating..and sad.
Nope not meant to be taken seriously as Bbucko says. But being light hearted goes a long way.

If you would look at the thread I corrected myself on the spelling and laughed about it.

Is there an issue with me changing my name? The mod's approved it I guess you don't.

Me a troll? Haha...gosh that hurt. You may have anger issues. But that's ok.

Have a great day.
Thanks OhWiseOne. Your response proves my point. As does your post history.

Poor grammar and spelling only bug me when it goes past honest mistakes. My brain has been trained to interpret words a specific way, and if there is too much chaos and deviation in what I am reading my brain can go haywire. So it then becomes more of a chore to get the intended message, which is something I always try and value. I can't help but use some semblance of grammar and spelling in everything that I do. I take longer than most people when I text because I almost always write out full words, and I punctuate everything. I'll go back and capitalize words in my texts.

I know this thread is specifically about spelling and grammar, but punctuation can be fun, too!

If you like punctuation, you should like this little "test."

Please add punctuation to the following string of words in order to make sense of it.

John where Mary had had had had had had had had had had had the teacher's approval.
