Heavens forbid: choosing a donor because he looks like Tom Cruise! Who would wish for an adonoidal, short-arse, pigeon toed dyslexic child? Humour apart, I am a sperm donor. I have to give a detailed genetic history, but if I were to be asked what my politics were (can't say religion because some would be parents think that more important than healthy genes) or penis size then I would withdraw my services - no pun intended. P.S. I am a volunteer, in my country it is considered immoral to charge for this.

yeah i too was a little disappointed (if not suprised) to read some of the churlish responses posted.

The OP poses a vaild question. People choose actual partners based on all kinds of different attributes in real life. if a woman was choosing a sperm donor (or a man an egg donor) i would expect them to also want to know everything about the donor. you can't tell me penis size of the donor wouldn't cross the woman's mind in the process, and yeah, including the prospect of passing that on to a son.

You've got another person in the equation which isn't exactly analagous to the original question (which was about sperm/egg donation). He wasn't asking if women would choose their husband on the basis of how likely they were to father a son with a big cock.

But what I just expressed above is not the same as expressing a preference for sex with children, and your analogy with some extreme preference was the type of absurd strawman reduction I'd expect on the Politics section. I really hope you can differentiate between a socially destructive preference and not-fully-developed thoughts about raising a child to be successful.

What are you talking about? I never mentioned "expressing a preference for sex with children". You must be mixing me up with another poster because I said:

If some measure of vaginal tightness were on the form, pretty sure I wouldn't give it any concern unless it was some ridiculously high or low value (like it it was in some range where the form said women with this issue may have trouble with natural childbirth)

I don't know anyone for whom vaginal tightness factors into their measure of self worth though, and of the women I've seen complain about it, it's always been a recovering from childbirth thing.

I'm not saying any of this is some important issue to me. I have two boys... I never asked their mother if her brother or father had big cocks (File it under "wtf, that's something a crazy person would ask").

I'm just saying that if I were making use of donated sperm in conceiving a child, and they handed me a form and penis size was on that form, it's something I would give consideration to. It's nothing I'd be asking for if it wasn't.

To be fair, I didn't ask the question. I responded (and tend to respond to more things on women's issues) because my most interesting conversations on lpsg tend to be with women, and disagreements don't turn into insult-fests.

The Egg/ Sperm donation is not much easier task. The Egg donor and the sperm donor are really the left over embryos at last. But under the proper consultation of the doctor who is an expert in these fertility problems should handle the matter of both the egg and sperm donation. The donors hormones should be some what coincide for the proper and the healthy result produced to them. It may not be a successful one at all the time. The doctor should be properly tested both the donors regarding their health.
