Ugh. I hate health clubs.
I went in for a trial membership at the ritz carlton in boston to go for a swim, and when I got naked all these hot shots who hang out in there all day shot me all these angry looks. Look, when I see a penis bigger than mine I don't care. Why are some people so spiteful?

I THINK what Smartalk is getting at that old adage that the guys who drive big cars are making up for a lack somewhere else, like below the belt...meaning, if you're trying out a gym at the probably-expensive Ritz Carlton, you're probably rolling with the "big boys"...except they're not THAT big, get it?

At least that's what I think he's getting at....or at least how I read the comment...

You should try a more downscale gym. I have always found that the glitzy high priced gyms are the "coldest" gyms. Nobody talks to each other, and the atmosphere (inside and outside of the locker room - especially on the gym floor) is very unfriendly and hostile. The friendliest gyms that I have used are the more basic or downscale gyms. This is why I quit my over priced health club to go back to working out at my university. I cannot believe how much friendlier the atmosphere is. Even though I'm twice the age of the students working out there (I was a student there about 15 years ago), I feel so much more comfortable working out there. I have talked to and have gotten to know more people at the university gym in the last 4 months than I talked to or knew in 3 years at my old private glitzy high priced gym. I haven't regretted quitting there once. I only wish that I did it sooner.
