actually the very first contraceptive I ever got my hands on (when I was about eight years old) came out of a highway reststop bathroom vending machine... and it was some gel in a pouch that you were supposed to rub over your cock that would apparently harden and stop the flow of semen. I think this is the Edsel of contraception. I know few certainties in life, but I do know that I will never use a spray-on condom. It's bad enough interrupting the passion to put on a regular condom. Technology and romance are not a good partnership in this instance, IMO.

Vulcanisation!? I remember when I was a kid we had bicycle tyre patches that had to be vulcanised. They came attached to a metal thing like a tinlid, and you applied a match to the other side and it fizzed like a firework and got HOT. That's vulcanisation.

And how do you tell when the spray is running out? When your condom is abnormally thin or only covers one side? Or like shaving foam, it makes a coughing sound....?

This is designed to accomodate all sizes. I see how that might work in theory. But it comes in a can that you insert your penis into then rotate as you spray. If the can only comes in one size it will have to be the largest size. Will the can be able to sense the length of the inserted penis? I'm picturing a shorter penis with a little rubber narwhal horn because the top of the can sprayed and hardened where there was no penis to cover.

Vulcanization does not require heat. Ever play with liquid latex? It vulcanizes cold.

I do agree that this is not an appealing idea for a prophylactic.

Theoretically it is a good idea. But as others have said sticking in the pubes, no reservior for the seman and also i would worry about an uneven or not a thick enough layer to protect properally.
