I do believe the most glaring dynastic trend in recent American politics belongs to the democrats, specifically the Kennedy's.
I'm not sure what the point is, or what the poster is responding to in the thread. Nonetheless, I feel it worth mentioning that the Kennedys - John, Bobby, Ted, not to mention a whole raft of the younger generation - have done great things in public service to America, when they could have just stayed home and played in their big money room.

Here's John speaking in January 1961: "For of those to whom much is given, much is required."

I'd say they did that in spades, and I think we're all better for it.

Yes they do.

Soooo glad Democrats don't participate in this type of activity.

Exactly the point I was making. Both parties do. It only seems a problem to some when the opposition does the same.

Yes perhaps. But the assumption made by the person (to whom I was responding earlier) was that it was bad politics to vote for someone with a political lineage.

I guess it'd depend on what that lineage has accomplished and your point of view of them. For example, I think some would say that dynasty or not, the Kennedys' roles in American politics could be considered a "plus".

No doubt there are others though, who'd spin each and every one of them into complete and utter failures.

Yeah, I hear that if Tripp didn't have that coverage (we're talking about Palin's grandchild, not her down syndrome son of similar age), that her husband's tribe would have to leave the baby out on a rock somewhere hoping kind strangers would come by and take the fondling in. Either that or put him on an ice flow with a six-pack of diet Coke, and traditional "Good luck with that" tribal ceremony invented by Mr. Palin.

 HI - larious. And no doubt some extra mumbo jumbo from Sister Sarah's voodoo priest.

But my dear el Bear, you miss the point. It's only 'socialism' if somebody else is getting some and you're not. The reason some people are so nasty is because they're obviously not 'getting any'.

My favorite moment from those out of control town hall meetings last August when Congress members were trying to talk to their constituents about Healthcare reform.

An elderly protestor screamed out, "You keep your government hands off my Medicare!"

Schwarzenegger Rips Romney, GOP For Stimulus Hypocrisy

"I find it interesting that you have a lot of the Republicans running around, and pushing back on the stimulus money and saying, 'This doesn't create any new job,'" said Schwarzenegger. "And then they go out and do the photo ops, posing with the big check and they say: 'Isn't this great, look at the kind of money I've provided for the state and this is money to create jobs, and this has created 10,000 new jobs, this has created 20,000 news jobs, and all those kinds of things.' It doesn't match up."
