Stalker Anyone?

Some of the most unwise people I've ever met had high IQ's and high SAT/ACT scores. They could memorize up a storm, solve spatial problems and complete genius-level calculus problems, but when it came to separating laundry they couldn't think their way out of a paper bag.

I think intelligence comes in many shapes and forms. I've seen people who others deem "stupid" or who score lower or average on certain tests that do the most intelligent and intuitive things. Perhaps it's a mind over heart (or heart over mind) thing.

I think Spladle is one of the few brainiacs who actually has both qualities (from the posts I've seen) and who isn't on the "oh... [yawn] I'm so bored with all you people with your IQs of 136. Oh how trite you all are. Let me go call my Mensa pals and we can discuss the micro-economics of growing wheat."

So, that's a good thing, Spladle, don't lose that. I dated a guy once who had to show off his "uber brain powers" all the time and who wouldn't STFU about his IQ or how smart he was. Then again, I always seem to attract the narcisists. "oh, was there something interesting about you that I should know? Oh, nevermind, another story about ME and MY accomplishments." Ugh! BORING!

Thanks! It is, of course, not me. I just added a ton of new avatars to the site so that those who can't make their own, can at least pick one that they like. I'm a Larry David fan, so I chose him... for the moment.

I am not the techiest gal around and couldn't seem to get anything small enough to make the avatar size limit. I guess I am better at making things bigger. Oh well, at least I have something on here now, even if it is Drew Barrymore. Thanks, Rob! :smile:

Actually I don't want to drop this line of inquiry as such, but it sounds like you don't understand my line of question: I don't actually care what your exact IQ is, I'm asking for your feedback and vantage point.

I think I did understand your line of questioning, and I would be happy to provide you with any feedback that I am able to. Sadly, since I cannot recall being treated as a nerd or geek and so I am unable to provide you with information from that particular vantage point.

Unfortunately, as is often the case for me, I probably came off sounding brash and hostile (versus challenging in a good way) which wasn't what I intended: I actually also meant my general response to you as a compliment, but in hindsight I think I came off as another asshole on the board.

I'm glad I didn't offend ultimately, but as it stands at the moment I think I can't add anything to this thread tangent without giving or taking offense.

I'm actually generally on the same page, but I think I've now earned the rep as being an IQ fetishist which, despite my initiating the tangent, I'm not. I've known people who've suicided because of this so it's not a casual issue for me. I just lack the eloquence to explain what I mean and where I come from.

FWIW, I find that people who ask for my IQ are very similar to people who ask for my dick size (once the rumours have gotten around). Sure, they're just asking what it is, but sooner or later they'll want to SEE it. :tired:

I have not had to contend with this guy, thank God, but I have had my share of "trolls" come at me. I have learned that simply ignoring them and pretending as they do not exist helps tremendously. Sometimes these guys are just looking for ways to get attention. Classic.
