It took 20 innings, some 7 hours, for the Mets to finally win in a 2-1 victory over St.Louis. It wasn't until the 19th that either team actually got a run; by which time, I'd ceased listening. In the top the Mets got on the board, and then in the bottom of the inning the Cards tied it up. Mercifully, Casey Stengel's ghost was watching and kept the Cards from getting another run and dragging everyone into a 21st inning.
They play late today, so there'll be plenty of rest. I'd dread thinking how both teams would fair today if they'd had a night game yesterday and an afternoon today (or even worse, the later in the season double-headers after a long game).
And of course, the Yankees won yesterday.
