Age, genetics, health, and level of arousal all play a part in this "phenomenon" or ability. Maybe a cock ring or Viagra would do it.

I think it has more to do with age. I use to have a problem with it staying hard for quite awhile (10+ minutes) after my first or even second cum. It could be a annoying if I needed to move on and couldn't walk around with a hard-on in my jeans. In my mid-30, this is rarely the case. It easily goes down within minutes after I ejaculate. Now I kind wish I had that problem again. Go figure.

From an evolutionary standpoint, there is no reason why it should remain erect for long after ejacuation. Mother nature probably thought that it would be more productive to get back to work...

lately, i've kept my erection for about 2-3 minutes after ejaculation, and it slowly goes flaccid after that period of time. i guess i should note that i have been doing more pc exercises than i used to; maybe this has helped, maybe not.

Sometimes I stay hard after ejaculation and can carry on with sex, but although I'm hard it doesn't feel that good and don't normally cum again.
I have always been kinda fortunate with this as I can stay hard after I climax but with L - Arginine this was maginified... i took this supplement to work out with, but quickly found that it also extended my erections. maybe mood and stress have a factor in it too? also, i've noticed that, usually, i stay harder for a little bit longer period of time after ejaculation, if i've abstained for a few days, than if i've had a cum the day before. although this isn't always true, and as i said, lately it doesn't seem to matter. i think the pc exercises really do work for me.
