Happy New Year of course.
I am wondering how many people are staying in or did stay in on new years eve?
if you stayed in, did you feel loser-ish about doing so? or didn't you care?
My phone has been ringing off the hook to go to this, that or the other party or club, and i have to tell you - other than popping out for a drink, i am happy to stay in on new years eve.
i spend the rest of the year partying and going out and i enjoy the break.
this year i am not in the mood to spend the night in jam packed clubs and house parties being pushed and shoved by the hoi polloi. its great to go out tonight and i hope everyone that does has fun and enjoys it and does not drive drunk and is safe.
so - how many of you are staying in tonight and liking it?

We are staying in and loving it, all the pubs are charging unbelieveable prices to get in their establishment, queueing and getting covered in drink is not for us and also here we have freezing fog and ice. And my partner is just getting over flu.

It has been a great evening seriously.

Happy New year goodwood.

I'm staying home but I don't feel bad about it. lol. I'm sick and I don't think Reno is doing any fireworks this year (so I've heard). There will probably be a bunch of drunk people hanging out at the "Biggest Little City" sign downtown at midnight... doesn't really sound fun to me. I'll just watch the ball drop on tv tonight...

I am SOOOOO staying in tonight and loving it! I have been doing a holiday show for the entire holiday and it ended today and I say HALLELUJAH! I may go out tommorrow to something but I am staying here snug as a bug tonight and enjoying it. I will not be watching Dick Clark however! I may watch a movie or something else...

first off, hau'oli makahiki hou peoples!

secondly, i'm staying home tonight. i don't like to party on new year's because i'm always scared of the stupid asshole drunk drivers. normally, however, i do surf the last wave of the old year and the first wave of the new year. however, i have a fractured wrist, a jacked up shoulder blade, and a messed up shoulder. so, i'm stayin home tonight

My wife and I always stay in on New Year's Eve. Neither of us like the crazy party scene with all of the drunks and fights that go on. We celebrate New Year's by getting a take-out dinner and watching a movie. We toast in the new year and then usually go to bed. Even in my "crazy & single" days I didn't care much for new year's and I couldn't see what all of the fuss was about - I always couldn't wait to get home. My wife and I have always felt that New Year's Eve is massively overrated. I also am not willing to pay the over inflated prices that are charged on New Year's Eve. We enjoy having the time for the 2 of us after the hecticness of Christmas.

Happy New Year everyone!

I usually go to a family party at my cousins' house but I've got to work tonight so I'm staying in until it's time to go to work. It sucks because I like going to the family thing. It's a nice way to spend New Year's eve.

the consensus among friends that i have been on the phone with is that new years eve is 'amateur night' for party people and my favorite people are all staying in tonight. among those that must attend parties, they will go and make their appearance.

I'm staying in tnite. Times Sqaure is the corner of my block and it's been insanity here all day. It get's worse after 5pm when the cops barricade the side streets and if I want to go to the store on the corner I have to have my ID to get back on my block. There were people lined up in TS this morning when I went to work. Absolute madness outside right now. It just took me almost 15 mins to get back to my apt instead of the normal 2 mins. Thank you Dick Clark lol! have a good one all!

Well, last year I was running around at work, running food and waiting tables and setting up tables for 14 hours on New Year's from 11am New Year's Eve to 1am New Year's Day, so this year with being unemployed I plan on chilling at home and relaxing.

I honestly never go out at all on all the big drinking holidays: St. Patty's, Fourth of July weekend, Halloween, New Year's...meh. I just hate going to bars when it's wall-to-wall people and traffic everywhere. Fuck that.

I may have a drink or so tonight but that's it.

I'ts still 6 1/2 hours away, so I don't have to decide about going out for a while.

I often plan to ahead of time, but decide I don't feel like it when it is time.

My wife and I had a great dinner with our two sons and their significant others at the end of our visit here in NYC. Now they have gone out with their friends for the partying. We will have a quiet time, just the two of us in our son's apartment as the new year comes in.

Wonderful as this is, it would be even better to have a third here -- a buddy to share my wife with on this blustery winter night.

Any suggestions, GOODWOOD?

I recently woke so was actually sound asleep when the New Year rolled over for me. Oh well.

If I go on a night out, it's to have fun.

Finding establishments with triple their normal capacity, spending twice as much on drinks and four times as much on a taxi just because I 'should' go out on one night instead of another a week later, isn't fun. :frown:

I usually (not always) categorise New Year along with Valentine's day, Halloween, etc. in my 'Made Up Shit That Nobody Cared About Until We Were Told To Celebrate It' section.

Doesn't stop me from wishing others well, but, yanno...
