I recently joined a new gym. This gym has a steamroom in the lockerroom. I actually never used one. I guess you have to be naked (without towel?) when using the steamroom.
I would like to make use of it, but I'm a bit nervous still about sitting but naked with other guys in a steamroom. My biggest fear is getting an erection, which seems likely to happen when sitting in such a hot and humid environment. How did you guys get used to using one?

I joined a new gym a couple of years ago and went through the same worries, but all for nothing. In our gym it is mandatory to take a towel in and sit on it or wear shorts. Most guys cover their junk up or wear shorts when they go in. I take a towel to sit on and keep my junk covered when I'm in there unless I'm alone, and then I sit nude until someone else shows up. I've seen guys in all states of erection- from soft to hard as a rock-and nobody gives a crap. Now, some guys will play around in there, but that's all done with the eye contact and a little suggestive conversation, but if you're not into that, then just keep a towel over your cock and you'll be fine. It happens, but not a lot.....The main thing is just enjoy the experience of the steam room, and if you pop a woody it's not really a big deal. Having just looked at your pics, you should be proud if you do....most guys would be jealous as hell to look that good!

My gum provides both sower towels and smaller sweat towels. I always shower before using any of the amenities and use a sweat towel to sit on so my shower towels stay clean and dry for my shower afterwards.

I've always gotten heavy when in the stream room. Not necessarily full raging hard on but good and heavy. Don't sweat it. Lots of men get erect or heavy in the stream room. It's the prefect conditions in the stream room for that to happen.

I always will, where available put my hands over one of the stream sensors to make more stream. Sometimes I've had it so steamy that I couldn't see the person next to me. Just enjoy it and if you get hard no big deal.

My experience with steam rooms is you practically have to be sitting on someone's lap to notice if they are hard or not...and if your sitting on their lap and they weren't they might soon well be. Also, you can go in a bathingsuit or you can go nude, but you leave your towel outside the door, in a steam room it will wight as much as a small child in 28 seconds (yes I made that time up).

Now in a sauna you keep your towel around your waist because you can see in a sauna, and it's a dry heat, your towel will only become as heavy as the grip of the person who's trying to tug on it.

Thinking further on the subject: I would like to have the freedom to display my erection. I always enjoy complimentary observations. Most often the observations come from guys. Nowadays, fewer women see me naked, and they are less likely to make comments due to the sexuality innuendo. I prefer steamrooms to saunas personally. Thankfully, my Y has a steamroom. Some guys sit on a towel naked, and some guys sit in there with a towel wrapped around them. Do whatever you are comfortable with. I can't get hard at all in a steamroom. I guess the steam relaxes me too much especially after a hard workout. I've sat in there naked on a towel with some stunningly hot men that are sitting there naked and I don't get in the slightest bit aroused. You probably need to desensitize yourself to the situation which will happen with continued use. Like others have said, don't overthink it and just enjoy the steam and relaxation.
