Yeah, no real chance solo on 10m. He’s been doing more springboard work and he’s surprisingly strong there for it not being his specialty. He’s a hard synchro partner because of his height. Boudia is still in the game somehow, but I lost track of what events, but I think he sticks to 10m, his gold metal event after all. The Chinese are insanely good, but not unbeatable. I’d love to see Tom Daley take gold, because when he’s on fire, he’s the number one diver in the world, it’s maintaining consistency that kills him and give the Chinese the edge, not to mention Russia and his own teammate Noah Williams rising in world ranks.

I loath Daley! He can be the best- but he's too much of a media whore to be consistent- 1 week, 1st, the next 5th, then 3rd, then he fails to qualify for a final, then he's 2nd- plus, he choked at the last Olympics (15th or 16th)- it's hard to get that out of your head. After he came out- the gay press just over publicized him to the point when I see his name I get nauseous.
Not saying I disagree... he’s had some incredible rounds, like near perfect, but can’t stay consistent. But, he does at least have a World Championship, just couldn’t connect it in an Olympic year. I respect the dedication—no one can say he doesn’t put in the grind though. And yeah, he’s a bit of a diva, but what an incredible inspiration he’s been to so many young gay athletes, still so few out and open tier-1 sports stars, so I’m glad he’s out there representing.
You might not be down on them. I am. Resent them for every iota of their being. They've not added a thing to our culture that couldn't be added without 'em.

He can come off a bit swishy, but normal anyone who’s a diver speculation... his 2008 synchro partner Thomas Finchum got it worse (he just got married lol)... them and their coach are all part of that odd mid-west evangelical diving culture that seems to take young divers and steer them to pray the gay away before they even know what their sexuality is.
There’s a huge DataLounge thread on Steele from a while back that touches on a lot of the same things—though I never got in on that conversation.

Now Finchum I thought was a screaming queen! It's hard to get a read on David because he barely gets any attention from sites/blogs/media. He has an Olympic Gold, Silver and Bronze medal- but all the air in the room gets sucked out by Olympic double bronze medalist, Tom Daley- even before he came out. He's gotten more press than every Olympic champ since Louganis (1992-2016, 7 men) combined.
Absolutely no one knows I'm gay unless I tell them, not even other gay people. Also the amount of gay men who are closeted and have wives a girl friends is Staggering.
There's this one guy I follow on social media who has 7 kids 2 of his sons are 18 and 19 and now he spends all of his time hanging around with twinks relatively the same age as his oldest sons. He's personal friends with a couple of 8teenboy models in fact. He recently did a post where he said he was 95% gay which means he knew he was gay his whole life and married a woman anyway probably ruining her life. My long winded point is that even though I believe in gaydar it doesn't always work.
OMG! Thomas Finchum is the Queenest Queen who ever Queened, he's the flameist, flame that ever flamed. I remember a couple of Olympics ago, the Camera Pan the stands during the diving portion and he and Tom Daley will up in the stand sitting next to each other just having a nice old conversation now remember this was years before Tom Daley came out. Even then I knew they were both gay and wondered why they were talking to each other.
In that handstand video, it sure looks like Steele is wearing briefs! How hot!
