Be careful. Using a condom you should be fine. My impression is non oral or sexual skin contact is not an issue but I don't know for sure. In most cases, hpv goes away on its own within 2 years. Unfortunately, I got it many years ago in my early 20s, had never heard of it, no vaccine then, and went through hellish treatments, burning, freezing, chemical dissolving, after which it took a week of soaking in antibiotics after every excruciating bowel movement before it healed. That lasted all summer. Then the fucking gp sent me to a surgeon for wart removal. I was pissed as shit and wondered why the asshole hadn't referred me to start with unless his was homophobic and was trying to punish me or teach me a lesson. Needless to say, never went back to him.
After surgery, there was, of course, another hell week. I lost at least 10 pounds that summer just because I wouldn't eat lunch at work during the hell weeks, fearing it might trigger a bowel movement for which I couldn't soak and might get infected.
The surgeon was kind and reassuring but warned me it could come back in later years and could initiate cancer.
Flash forward to 2023. After a colonoscopy, I was referred to a colorectal surgeon after they noticed evidence of hpv. The surgeon examined me and said there was no sign of cancer but he would advise surgery to biopsy tissue to be safe. That I did and it was benign. I will be checked again in the future.
Just an unrelated but important footnote to this story. Both of my "savior" surgeons in these situations were from families who had immigrated to the United States to escape oppression. They were both the finest, most compassionate doctors I have ever come in contact with. With the exception of Native Americans, all of us in this country came from immigrant families - lest we forget.
