This section used to be the best thing on the internet, masturbatorily speaking. Yes it is free and you get what you pay for, but I even was a paying member of LPSG for a while because of how good some of the threads were. Now it is being over run by what I have to assume are bots. On the front page today 19 topics had their most recent post by the same "person." All essentially at the same time. I guess these things ebb and flow over time. It's just sad to see. I should probably be done spanking it to the internet anyways...

I'm almost wondering if it's actually a "team" of spammers. I posted about it the other day. I was noticing today that it/them is getting better about attaching relevant posts to the topics, though I wouldn't dare follow any of its links. They do all appear to take you to the same group of websites. If it is a single entity, that speed is pretty impressive.

I still trust that they'll find a way to kill it off. If its ISP can't stop it, maybe they could just block links to the websites it wants you to go to, rendering its future efforts kind of pointless.

I agree that the constant spamming is wrecking this section. I don't know if it's possible but maybe new members should be limited to a couple of posts a day for a probationary period.

Or at least not allowed to post links for a bit.

I fear it would simply adapt with a workaround, like building up dummy posts to hit the quota or incubating a bunch of new puppet accounts until they pass the time limit or something.

Still think there should be a warning/disclaimer attached to any posts which include web links from users who are either too new or are below a certain number of posts.

I would vote in favor of denying new members any postings with links for a probationary period of one month. I think that would discourage spammers who want to post a link asap to meet their quotas. I think new members who are truly interested in LPSG would hang in there for a month, so long as the purpose of the rule is explained at the time people sign up.

Could the admins do a slightly better job for us that have remained so faithful to the boards? It's quite annoying that everyday the same thing happens.. think of something ffs

I have noticed that the spamming is linked to one web site. I wonder if there is a way the admins can prevent any post that contains a link to the spammers web site of choice.

Keep in mind, this is a FREE site, therefore admins/mods aren't paid. It's hard to maintain a site in your spare time. Especially when it's overrun by assholes.

May I suggest to everyone who plans on complaining that you yourself contribute quality content much as you can. We can overpower the spammers.

I've seen a couple of old threads pop up with new spam posts. This suggests a level of sophistication from the bots/spammers, they've taken to scanning the forums for long dead but long (and therefore succcesful) threads. I think (if it's possible) there should be a ban on new users posting links for a month AND until they've made 10 posts. This way any bot trying to fake those 10 posts would have to be very convincing to not have been banned before it's month was up.

7X6- It seems to target big dick specific posts and can also attach links with common porn star names relevant to the thread (though I'm not sure the linked videos actually are what they say).

I'd almost say threaten to block the whole damn site that its promoting, unless it's a common one that shows up in legit posts here. That way, if it continues to spam, it shoots itself in the foot by never having its own site get mentioned here, even if other users try to link to it.

Did they just fire at it?

Looks like the posts by its current incarnation (Hamgik) have asterisks in the URLs making them not work. :fing02:

It's back on its feet with a crazy new address style.

Well look on the bright side- Now we know what the Borg were doing back in the 21st century... trying to get their porn site up :biggrin1:
