Speaking as a gay man, we sometimes confuse our gaydar for "please-let-him-be-gaydar." I'd also say gay men that have recently come out, there's a boldness that comes along with finally being comfortable going for what you like.

It's means you're cute, hot, or both. Consider it a compliment from some with high standards.

Especially when you're younger. As you become more mature, you build more respect for other people as people - i.e. independent agents with their own desires, feelings, approaches; their own sense of propriety and consent.
So. It's conceivable he likes the look of you. Conceivable he gets passing thoughts of having sex with you.
But.
He may not do anything at all about it. He may not be happy with having those thoughts himself. It may not even be happening at all - most of us can turn it off for friends and / or colleagues or acquaintances ...
If he did make some move at some point, take it as a compliment. Anger would be extremely inappropriate.
Occasionally heterosexual women hit on me. I don't get all huffy. I don't punch them. It's sweet.

Don't forget that straight guys sometimes like to flirt with gay guys. They know nothing will come of it. Flirting can just be flirting and seen as fun. If you don't like it ask him about it and talk it through. Give him a hug after though! Don't upset the gays!
Gay college men are obsessed with straight guys you should sleep iwth one eye opened at all times. I hope you graduate with you straightness intact.

Fairly common. I'd had loads of sex with guys but not had my heart strings tugged. Then I fell for this tall athletic blond guy and was head over heals in unrequited love. I virtually wet myself when he was about, hopefully he never knew and I certainly didn't flirt - and I knew him and his wives over many years - and still find him unbelievably attractive.
Had I flirted, made a pass then it would have all been over, as it is I've enjoyed a great many years of friendship

Nthngless, I agree with you. I may be the oldest person in this group, but I can say that when I was in college, I too had a gay roommate. He came out to me because he thought I would find out and not want him to be my roommate any more. When I told that I was as well, we both talked about the guys we fantasized about and he flirted with me a couple of times, but it was more or less just joshing. So in the long run, just ask as you said.

I think some gay guys like the challenge of trying to get into a straight guys pants. Not to say that that is all they are looking for, but bagging a straight dick is an accomplishment, I guess. From the other side of the fence, think about how a straight woman feels when a straight guy hits on her, but she's not interested. If he continues on in his pursuit, he probably deserves to be shut down forcefully. I think the guy might think he's giving her a compliment by trying to get her, but she feels harassed. The same would be true in a gay guy-straight guy scenario. Yes, it could be considered a compliment, but unwanted attention is unwanted attention. You can call it flirting, or you can call it harassment. (And its likely much worse since society hasn't changed enough to support the person who feels weakest in the situation.)

depends on which set of statistics you use, more like 10% I'd think with at least another 10% suppressing their ideal sexual inclinations, the remainders, so called straight guys, who play it safe couldnt tell who was sucking their cock if they poked it through a glory hole - no matter what they say, and, pissed they do a lot of stuff and in the morning cant remember a thing....
