might be because kissing is a sign of affection, it's intimate and generally considered private due to the fact (heavy making out I mean, but honestly it depends on where you're from). Other sexual expressions are less intimate, and more raunchy. Just because a guy you know is topping another does not mean he's necessarily being intimate with him, or means that he finds him attractive at all. Kissing does. I pin-point this as being the reason kissing can be a big deal for a lot of people, whereas the actual matters less so. There are countless examples where a lot of men who prefer women top men, so its more natural for that act not matter as much.

To all you straight guys, what was your reaction the first time you saw two guys kissing? It's pretty commonplace in movies and videos today, so I guess it's not so shocking, but does it bug you? This doesn't make any sense to me in relation to seeing people kiss. The only thing that really factors into seeing kissing for me is the attractiveness of the two people kissing, especially in the face area. Besides, if you see two girls kissing, how do you know that they aren't bi? I always thought the common "idea" was that they really aren't lesbians, they are just trying to get guys attentions (which may be true sometimes, but it is still stupid to think that every time).
I'm probably in the minority since I don't enjoy seeing m/f couples kiss. It actually bothers me in porn unless it is amateur, and they have to be getting busy at the same time for me to enjoy it.
Edit: I feel I should note that when I mean kissing I'm talking about making out kissing, not just a peck on the lips. To me that is a kiss, but at the same time to me it isn't kissing because the duration is so short. Just a normal kiss doesn't bug me no matter what the combination since it is almost nothing.
