What is your main reason to go to the gym and work out? I have my reason too and I just want a survey on why other straight guys work out.

Might. I like the look, endurance, speed, and power I see in mma fighters. I'd like to see those in myself, so that's the build I try to achieve. Its a vanity thing, I just want to impress myself.

I've been admired by guys, it doesn't do much for me, but its fun to share information and tips. women aren't as forward about it and I doubt it matters as much to them.

Too bad you can pick only one.

Pretty much all of them apply, depending on my mood. I picked self-fulfillment. Sometimes it just feels really, really good physically and emotionally to lift something heavy, like when a heavy deadlift breaks from the floor, you can almost feel the gravity let go.

I voted for "other." While many of the options apply, my main reason is for the mood/energy boost I get from doing Crossfit each weekday before work. Health is an important secondary benefit, while the physique is just sort of a nice side effect.

Great answers guys. At first, I thought the main reason was to impress girls. But I got motivated due to health reason. I still find the sexual pleasure of attracting girls as my main reason though to keep working out, even though it wasn't what really motivates me to start working out.

Well, all of these could be your reasons. I'm just curious as to what your main reason is :)

I work out for my health, more than any other reason. But also because I feel so good all the time, have not been sick in years. No aches or pains, except the self-inflicted pain of No Pain, No Gain workouts.

I also like to wear tight fitting clothing, and fat people do not look good doing that. Tight body hugging sleeveless sport shirts are a favorite of mine. Not going to let myself go to pot if I intend to continue wearing same.

I chose strength as my main reason after waffling between it and self fulfillment. Having the extra strength and endurance from working out helps me a lot around the property and working on cars. Do a lot of projects alone so the extra muscle comes in handy when no one is there to lend a hand.

Although it is equally nice not to be one of the 'typical' middle age men who just seem to be letting themselves go. Don't know if I'll ever get to the point of being a head turner shirtless but if I do it won't be because they are looking at my moobs. :biggrin1:

Exactly.
Plus, you can look good in inexpensive (cheap) clothes and don't have to spend a lot on wardrobe to look good. You can wear pretty much anything.

to look good naked, also comes in handy when in almost every situation in life i find my self having to hold of lift something for my weaker female counterparts..

What he said!

Standing in the mirror naked and looking sexy for myself and for women is my ultimate goal.

I go to the gym to improve my health. The fact there are plenty of attractive sweaty females working out doesn't hurt, but I am there primarily to keep myself in shape.

Also to prove other people wrong. In my teens everyone kept saying "wait till your 20's and see if you'll still be able to eat what you want". Now people say wait till my 30's. I plan on staying fit for as long as I can.
