mainstream straight porn companies used to hire male talent based on sexual performance—ability to get hard, stay hard, and cum on command—and attitude—performers are expected to be punctual, agreeable, and take direction no matter what. it's the reason ron jeremy and so much other male talent have had such long careers—and their bodies show it, but many of them still maintain an above average physique—though, i have noticed a shift in talent being hired in the past few years.
i commented in another thread that it was strange that so much current male talent being hired by studios don't have aspirational forms; they don't have 10 inch dicks or are giant muscled studs, so many of them are twinks that look like they got lost on their way to freshman orientation.
i wonder how much the shift has to do with the current economics of porn; significantly less compensation from studios attracts young, inexperienced performers that don't fully understand the market and risks of the profession, but also the ouroborous effect of talent performing in studio porn while also creating and distributing their own content on platforms like onlyfans. i think this will create higher turnover rates similar to female talent in porn, but for significantly different reasons.
