Bodybuilding is (re)introducing the physique class where men have a maximum weight in relation to their height.

Physique bodies are similar to cross-fit bodies.

Both forms of training have their positives and their negatives.

Yeah I’m curious about this too. I assumed it was for advertising but wasn’t sure.
Well, that is essentially it. I'm at the phase of doing research, trying to establish what most straight women and gay men consider more physically attractive, sexy, erotic, a turn on, etc.

I didn't think to ask this before but what do you guys picture when you think of a bodybuilder?

This is what I imagine:

I love muscle but when choosing who is sexier between these 2 options I'd pick crossfit. Both have great bodies but the cons to bodybuilders are; shaved hairless bodies, leading to ingrown hairs and stubble around the crotch, fake spray-on tans, and back zits that I assume are from steroids.

Definitely crossfit. While a bodybuilder can achieve an incredible physique, a crossfit athlete can achieve a more appealing (in my eyes) body. Additionally, in today's frenetic world I would think you would have 5 or more crossfit clients for each bodybuilding client. Hope this helps.

Which is sexier, bodybuilders or crossfit athletes? Obviously, I'm asking about men in both disciplines. I need to make a business decision and I'm wondering which between the two is more appealing to the gay demographic. Your help is appreciated.

What business are you in? It makes a huge difference.

Bodybuilders are all about the image of perceived perfection; tan, muscle size, skin tone, etc...
Cross Fiters are all about the image of perceived athlete; sweat, tough workout, socially popular club, etc...

However, bodybuilders too often take steroids for size and other things to meet goals. Whereas Cross Fitters far too often sacrifice form for exercise and injure themselves, largely in an effort to satisfy a social media type need.

All that said, both groups get a LOT more exercise than I. So, again, what business are you in?

I just read some more recent posts.
If your business is looking for sexy bodies; that is completely in the eye of your audience. You need to understand your demographic better; gender, sexuality, ethnicity, regional, sub-group preferences, ... nearly countless variables.

If we're talking just those two body types, when topping I prefer crossfit. When bottoming I prefer a man larger than I with a more muscled physique like a bodybuilder.

That said I'm flexible, having topped bodybuilders and been topped by crossfit.

As always I know what I like when I see it.

Are you planning to be an escort or a personal trainer? Do you want to set yourself up as an online video sex worker (posing for clients on webcam), or a club stripper? It would help to know what you're considering.

Men are more likely to give you money than women, who expect money from you. Even in a "liberated" age, that is still the expectation. Men will also do more for less from you. If you are truly impressive, they will worship you, & treat you like a god among men. That means they will give you more of their money. Even if you just want to be a PT, the better you look the more you will make.

The high-end bodybuilders who are willing to escort can demand top dollar. But you have to be willing to fly in & make appointments that are half paid for in advance, so that if they wig out on you, you still have their money. You don't have to have sex with them, but you would have to address their fantasies & let them get off. A few women might be clients for you doing that, but not many. It is a men's market.

I would not say it's the difference between bodybuilding & crossfit, but between bodybuilding & physique/classic physique. All of them are forms of bodybuilding, but set at different degrees. Another look that is popular w/ some gay men is the musclebear look, where hair isn't shaven & some belly is okay. It's a specialized appeal, but the men who like it tend to be older & they are more likely to have money.

Speaking as a bodybuilder and an escort, very well stated. And, for the record, I find the beefy thickness of a bodybuilder to be the ultimate of "hot" so that is also what I like.

I think this question is too up for subjective interpretation by what you actually mean by “crossfitters” and “bodybuilders”.

While the consensus here seems to be that crossfitters are very fit normal men who take pride in their fitness, this is not a universal standpoint.

CrossFit (to me at least) has quite a lot of negative connotations. CrossFit (as I view it) is filled with a lot of over-enthusiastic yet insufficiently-skilled amateurs, whereas bodybuilding is, to me far more accessible and relatable.

A lot of people have this image that bodybuilding is filled with roided, cartoonishly huge freaks. And while I won’t say that stereotype exists without a grain of truth in some spheres, I will say that it’s generally a much simplified view of only the negative connotations of extreme bodybuilding cherry-picked away from the positive aspects of it.

To me bodybuilders have a much more aesthetically pleasing and defined muscular physique - whereas to me, crossfitters could be any Tom, Dick or Harry who just self-declares themself to be fit or lead (even if they aren’t).

I guess, even though I am neither a crossfitter or a bodybuilder, I have always tended to attend gyms at the heavier-lifting or bodybuilding end of the spectrum.

And I actually find that even bodybuilders are come in all personalities, from the approachable, friendly, affable, funny, dedicated, intelligent, sophisticated, business-oriented...etc
The same of course could be said of crossfitters, but it seems even gay men have an unjustified negative view of bodybuilders.

Sexual preference for one body type over the other is fine, but when it comes from underlying assumptions that are largely baseless snap judgments, then it should be examined more introspectively.
