I've recently been in a rather heated debate with a British poster. One of the things I've always been interested in is how most women respond to the fairly recent trend of heterosexual males "main-streaming" bisexuality in women. I believe it actually has it's own term "Lesbian chic". In my opinion it only serves to further marginalize gay men into second class citizen status. Perhaps, truth be told, that's its subliminal intent.

By that I mean I've often heard heteosexual men actually say "Oh no! She's not gay she's a lesbian. It comes more naturally to women to be bisexual". Oddly it's not the heterosexual women saying this but it's the heterosexual men (in my opinion) forcing their fantasy onto women who'd not, of necessity, exhibit any inclination toward the same sex.

To me it's just another example of the endless lengths to which men suffering from the age-old patriachal mentality of "we must remain in charge" will go in their attempt to control and manipulate accepted sexual behavior; to meet only their sexual needs.

Oddly, I've found that if you ask many of these same men how they feel about bisexuality/heterosexuality in men they'll say "dude that's sick".

:33:Huh??

I'm interested to hear everyone's take.

... a swift blow to the head should correct that way of thinking

Well, it's news to me that 'most'
women are "bisexual". Truth be
told I think it is only in the
over-active imagination of a few
erroneous males.

I assume that many, if not most, straight men fantasize about two women having sex. From my limited experience watching straight porn, it always seemed there was always at least one scene which had two women getting it on. I've known a few women in my life who I'd describe as being bisexual but I've known many more that are exclusively lesbian. I just don't think bisexuality in women is any more common than it is in men.

Now I wonder: how many straight women out there fantasize about two guys having sex? Probably not many, but I bet there are some out there!

I think there's been a "masculinist" backlash to feminism in American culture. I think it's made men's worldview, including sexuality, even more dominant than it was 10-20 years ago. I wonder if some women have been more interested in "exploring" bisexuality as a way to conform to the fantasies of many heterosexual men.

Combining with that, but from the exact opposite direction, queer rights movements have also made a little more space for women to be sexual with each other.

Then again, I could just be totally full of shit.

I agree with this, Rocky...way too
many people seem to think porn
is the 'real' view of sexuality, when
that is a total crock.

I don't think there are any more
bisexual women than there were
in the past, just wishful thinking on
some people's part.

This is stupid heterosexual male thinking alrighty. I swear, most of the time I hate being straight. Nonetheless, there it is- not a gay bone in my body, more's the pity. Yes, it's men forcing us into their fantasy roles, and it certainly helps them not to think of us as real people. My favorite (and this happens more often than I'd like to think about) is when some fucktard finds out I have a grown daughter and asks if we could have a threesome! Can you believe that shit? I swear, there aren't enough guns in this world.

Very few women know how much most guys despise us. Work in enough male dominated places and smoke cigarettes, and you find out soon enough that we're all useless twats. Of course, that would be sadder if they didn't have a lot of good points. Men think of women in the basest of terms, but women do little to discourage that belief.

I'm not sure that I know any men that despise women. Quite a few people tell me I'm a cynic, so now I'll know when I am.

I don't get turned on by Lesbians. :) I just think it's over-sterotyping and the amazing idea that women should conform to the ideals that men set out. It's like the feminist movement is being controlled by men or something!

I mean, why should a "sex in the city" generation think that fucking women is a need-to-do? You want to bone a lady, step in line, but at least do so because you think "all men are lazy good for nothing bastads" and not because "I want to find out if it'll go with my new tan."

I agree. I don't think bisexuality is any more common in women, either. To be honest, I listed the "1% Gay" factor because, given the appropriate scenario, I wouldn't mind if a woman wanted to watch my partner and I, but I wouldn't be interested in being sexually involved with another woman.

This does seem to be the conventional wisdom, and I've never fully understood it. Lesbians have never (as in: not even once) been a fantasy of mine, an opinion shared by most of the other straight guys with whom I have discussed it.

I'm not sure the prevalence of lesbian activity in straight porn accurately represents anyone's sexual wishes; after all, in the same porn women all go gaga over huge cocks, whereas interest in the topic among real-world women seems so scant that you could probably count the active female members of LPSG on your fingers and toes.

@ Stronzo: I think anyone who would say "she's not gay, she's a lesbian" simply doesn't have the brainpower to comprehend words longer than four letters. To believe they are attempting to "marginalize" or send subliminal messages is, in my opinion, to assign them *far* too much credit.

Hi Steve,

I'm very interested in your perspective. That reference to women worshipping big cock and getting cum splattered on their faces never hits me as genuine either. It's (generally), I suspect, to satisfy the fantasy element in the male heterosexual sex realm... and to that end largely successful.

As a gay man (and I'm a cum slut) even I don't like having anyone cum in my face. To me, when I witness it in straight pornography, it seems that it's nothing more than the continuing male agenda to remind women of their subervience as a gender.

As for your second comment; I hope what you say about 'assigning too much credit' is true. But boy, I gotta tell ya Steve, I've heard that very statement more often than I'd care to admit from people who appear in the broader sense to be perfectly rational heterosexual men. I guess when it comes to matters of the dick the lower head still reigns supreme regardless of sexual orientation.

Thanks again for your considered commentary. Given it's from a heterosexual source it's hugely valuable.

Peace.

I'm another straight guy who's not in the least interested in watching women make love to each other, whether they be lesbian, bi or what's left, confused?.

What's 'normal' anyway?

Yup. We've had this discussion, Steve26 (hot new avatar by the way). Lesbian sex has never done anything for me. Why all the interest in watching 2 women who don't want a man go at it? Never understood the fascination.

I think that deep down, in levels that can't themselves comprehend, men's fascination with lesbian sex is really them imagining themsleves as a woman pleasing another woman, and feeling inferior to the intimacy that two women can share (as opposed to a man and a woman).

This is, in essence, the same fantasy made ubiquitous my interracial porn proliferation with black men and white women. The white males watching are supposed to imagine themselves as a black man.

Perhaps the straight men with the heavy lesbian fantasies are subconsciously getting in touch with their feminine sides?

NAH--they are just objectifying women.

I think it vaguely insulting to my entire gender to think that just because something has been mainstreamed by anyone, that women will just rush out and do it. A woman who was going to be opposed to bisexual or gay experimentation is still going to be opposed. Women who might have felt guilty or conflicted after, may simply feel less so.
