that's the point - straight and gay are pretty slim pieces of the pie. which is why i differentiated between "straight" and "straight-identified". i think that's where the confusion comes from...there are plenty of guys out there who may be "straight-identified" who are actually a little bit bi, but we still don't live in a world where people casually admit to being bi, so they're going to live their lives with a public persona of being straight. i guess all i'm saying is that if you put 20 straight-identified guys in a room, not all of them are going to be 100% straight (some of them will be, but not all) but all of them will say they're straight.

idk why people feel the need to lie about their sexuality, let's just call the "straight-identified" people what they really are and thats "in the closet"

The deeper aspects to this whole discussion is that the very concept of "sexuality" and identifying oneself based on the gender of the person you have sex with is a very new concept. Until about the late 1800s, the very concept of "straight" and "gay" didn't exist. There were sexual acts; some were between people of the opposite gender, and some were between people of the same gender. But they were sexual acts, not identities. And the truth is ... there are still some places in the world, such as the Middle East, were "gay" and "straight" doesn't exist. People are persecuted in the Middle East for performing homosexual ACTS, not for BEING homosexual.

To be honest, I think this is what all the squabbling is about. I think people don't like basing their identity on their sexuality anymore. Maybe society has gotten beyond that now.

There is some weird stuff going on in "straight" porn these days which really blurs the lines of sexual orientation. There are now "cockold" videos where a guy watches his wife has sex with another man; one of them ends with the husband being forced to eat the other man's cum. I recently saw a box for a video where actors portraying father and son have sex with the same woman.

I mean, in all fairness, maybe these threads where guys ask if straight guys do this or that kind of have merit, actually. It's getting hard to tell these days. I just got back from a gay dance club where I saw lesbians grinding on gay men; lesbians pretending to perform sodomy on gay men! While dancing with another man, I got really turned on seeing lesbians dancing together.

Maybe just get rid of the prefixes of "hetero" and "homo" and "bi," and just say we are all sexual. lol THAT might work. lol :p

Thanks, I guess. But I'm not banging my head against a wall. Remember, I'm the one who started this thread. I'm just a bit on the scholarly side regarding sexuality -- because I've been reading and talking and thinking about it for years.

And, it is a simple fact that the labeling system is new to human culture. Also, the current male generation (which I love) is one that is heavily influenced by many changes in society, such as the impact of feminism. I think this makes the current male generation more open minded about some things, and it makes the labeling system a little less rigid; maybe their sexuality is just a big more fluid.

For example, concepts like "bromance" came about with the current generation. That wouldn't have existed for "Generation X." The bromance is so close to just saying "bisexual." (Oh, and the bromance is beautiful as hell.) ‪Word of the Day - Bromance‬‏ - YouTube

BTW, my previous post was made after a long night of clubbing.... :biggrin1:

Ah yes. The ultimate fantasy of SOME gay guys is to seduce a straight guy. They seem to think that straight guys are some type of forbidden fruit and are manlier because they are only into women. Straight men can tell story after story of gay men trying to coerce, persuade and downright demand that they at least give gay sex a try. As if women don't have asses if anal is what he really wants, lol. You will also notice that these types of gay men are usually some of the most notorious woman haters you have ever laid eyes on because deep down inside they KNOW that they will never be able to get what only women have access to. They can only have other gay, bisexual and in the closet men. That drives them crazy! Makes you wonder exactly who is the homophobe since they feel that men who belong to the gay/bisexual community aren't good enough for them, to the point where they feel they have to seduce a straight guy.

to Blackgirl - one of your ex's totally came out as a gay man while dating you! i was kinda wondering why ya got the gay dude rage bubbling up everywhere!

to OP: actually straight men can have sex with gay men and maintain their orientation. if a straight man was into humiliation/derogation/emasculation he might engage in oral sex or other activities with another man. not for his attraction to another man or men in general, he's after the shame/helplessness/powerlessness. or any other get off other than being attracted to a man. unless i love dick and wanna marry Dick is his goal.. it ain't gay.

a man might getting nekkid with another dude because his female partner is very into. single incidents or random experimentation doesn't alter an identity. those moments define or refine or solidify a self ID.

i've always kinda thought all the societal privilege attached to being a heterosexual male, and the second class status of queer folk, are the whys for such a rigid/limited ideal of sexual expression and the need to label everyone into a few one-size-fits-all compartments.

This is an interesting point. I suppose I tend to think of the guys as trying to decide what THEY themselves are. For example, "I can have sexual activity with other guys and still say I'm 'straight,' right?" I think of those threads as guys trying to sort out who they are, not gay guys trying to pick up straight guys.

But what you say also, kind of, makes a little sense for me as a bisexual. I know there are gay men who hate women. Sometimes gay men can't believe I'm bisexual, saying they don't understand how a man could be interested in a woman. (But not all gay men are so intolerant. I've met many gay men who have no problem with bisexuality.)

I guess this forum is just an unusual place. I think that sometimes maybe some gay and bisexual dudes can't believe how great it is that we have an atmosphere where we can look at other guys' erections. Gay and bisexual guys act about erections the way straight guys act about female breasts: we see an erection and we kinda go crazy. lol. I think this is why some straight guys have to write things like, "Don't ask me if I'm interested in comparing...."

I grew up in an urban environment and I have gay/bisexual friends and acquaintances so I am privy to why SOME gay/bisexual men have this pathetic obsession with snagging a heterosexual man. I lurked on this board for a little while before joining and saw the same dynamics play out with some gay men that I see in real life. One member in particular stands out in his negative outlook towards women and in some of his posts you will notice that he tries to "recruit" heterosexual men away from women, thank goodness gay and bi men like that are in the minority. They look desperate and desperation is not a good look for anybody.

Then these men are either bisexual or gay and in the closet. Straight men have no sexual interest in other men. Period.

I think that goes on in all towns, dude. But we have to ask ourselves a few questions. Are all straight males doing this? Is it possible that these "straight" guys who do this are actually "bisexual"?

I know. It's sad. I love straight guys. But I love them from a distance and I leave them alone. lol

I thought it was just me that was picking up on some level of animosity from comments made in other topics too. Glad it's not just me, but it's a shame to see regardless.
