I'm surprised.

I don't experience fantasies of this sort and it hadn't occurred to me that other hetero guys would be any different.

There isn't a reference or link to the research in the article, so I'm not sure I ought to take the opinion too seriously...

No, not surprised at all. Might have been surprised before LPSG, but I have long ago learned that sexuality is more fluid than we have been led to believe. I used to think I had these fantasies, because I am a little more toward bisexual than most guys. Now, I know that most guys have them, and it doesn't affect their straightness. I was a bit surprised at how many straight guys have sex with men, rather than just fantasize, from time to time, but I've gotten over it.

I thought the article was ironic and had a negative undertone. I also didn't see a lot of research other than the opinions of two psychologists. Not that that is necessarily inaccurate, but it's not that hard to prove or disprove.

The article suggests some straight men have gay fantasies. Okay, maybe. But the ironic part is that Kinsey himself said sexuality is a continuum rather than endpoints on a line. Then in the last sentence it is implied that girls are "screwed" if their man is anywhere on the continuum than at the straight endpoint.

I can see a staight guy having a same sex dream fantasy. But dreams can be made up of many things. It could be the domination of a man at work, could be two bodies stand for the aspects of the same guy, or just something different and comforting, or just pure enjoyment or hot. Just the range of sex dreams. I wouldn't make a big deal of it. Just enjoy it.

sounds like a load of bull. I'm gay but I've never fantasied about a woman. I'm sure its the same with straight men.

Now, now, now....I will say that later in my gay life...I have had a couple of fantasies about women. (THAT DOESN'T MEAN I AM BI. *capitalized only for emphasis; not angry at all*)"

It is possible that straight men have same-sex fantasies. I have met a few straight men. I honestly can say that I haven't fucked or messed around with a straight man. I don't have fantasies about that. I just don't.

I don't care about straight men's gay fantasies. And I feel for any straight man that wants to realize their same-sex fantasies with me. Because it would never happen...unless you were Jon Hamm. :biggrin1: Other than that...the other straight men could go suck each other dix or what not.

I'm not surprised because I understand that sexuality isn't a series of well-defined bullet points. I must be far to the 'hetero' end of the scale, because I have never had or even considered such a fantasy.

No, it's not the same: some very gay men have an aversion to women's bodies, and thus will never really fantasize about women. Straight men, for the most part, are not repulsed by the male body as they have are male themselves. So, men will have some degree of physical attraction to other males for this very reason (jealousy, big penis dominance, etc.)

You're confusing aesthetic attributes with sexual attraction...
...and I don't know what you mean by "jealousy and big penis dominance", perhaps they're something you assume straight guys are prone to.

Maybe you are?

I'm not.

Well, in this regard, there is really is much of a difference between the two - one really implies the other. Read on:

Men are sexually attracted to their own penises and sexual maleness, and thus they will have some attraction to other men's by mere virtue of "mirror reflection". Also, men become somewhat attracted to men they find in ideal in some way (muscular/tall physique, penis size, etc). This is what is often referred to as as "jealously" attraction. Men can feel this with their favorite stud in porn, a weightlifting buddy, an admired athlete, or the co-worker who all the ladies swoon over.

No, I'm not saying that all straight men are secretly gay or bi, but rather that most heterosexual men have some degree of same-sex attraction. It would only be natural.

I find nothing surprising about the article's assertion. And I don't think such a fantasy necessarily includes any desire for experiencing such an act. Fantasies are merely mental images brought on by an active imagination and inquisitive mind. Those are good things and, unless a person's creativity has been suppressed by puritanical dogma, thinking outside the box (pun intended) should be just as common in the sexual arena as anywhere else. The thought itself can be erotic without any concomitant need for first hand experience.

The article also states that the 4th most common such fantasy is getting a blow job from a guy. From what I've heard from my "totally straight" friends most of them have never experienced a truly good blow job. And many of them believe that women only perform oral sex as a necessary evil. Yet anyone who explores the subject at all will quickly learn that gay men who thoroughly enjoy giving good head are extremely common. That alone could be enough to conjure up fantasies of having a talented and enthusiastic male cock sucker working on one's dick.

... Men are sexually attracted to their own penises and sexual maleness, and thus they will have some attraction to other men's by mere virtue of "mirror reflection" ...

Not at all sure what "mirror reflection" means, but this general concept is very much true in my case. It is what ultimately led me to leave the "totally straight" world behind me and expand my horizons to enjoying penises of all shapes, sizes, races and nationalities.

... Also, men become somewhat attracted to men they find in ideal in some way (muscular/tall physique, penis size, etc). This is what is often referred to as as "jealously" attraction. Perhaps that is true of "most heterosexual men" but it's certainly not true in my case. I have admired a great many men for a great many reasons, but I can honestly say that in the context of this thread I've never found myself "attracted" to any of them. While I have been interpersonally attracted to many men, a number of whom have become close friends, I am assuming here that we're speaking of sexual attraction. I've never experienced a sexual attraction to any man, that's just the "straight" side of my sexuality. But I've often experienced a sexual attraction to a man's genitals and that totally defines the "bi" side of my sexuality.
