just dl VLC (VideoLan)
VideoLAN, Free streaming and multimedia solutions for all OS! (right hand side) and associate all files (Tools-Preferences-Interface-Association Setup (right hand side under 'Browse).)
Tick everything, tho' the default setting will cover most uses.
Note, once you've done this all your vid and audio files will have the VLC logo. That's OK. You can still open any file with whatever player you want.

As for Rapidshare, I'm a subscriber (for other reasons, one being the servers are in Europe, for those in the know, you'll understand.) Paid is super fast. But you can still use the free option. You'll have to wait for the countdown (40-plus secs?) I've just dl'd a couple of vids here using this option. No problem.:smile:
