This may sound like a strange question (wait, this is LPSG...nevermind ), but during a recent ejaculation I began to wonder about semen consistency; particularly stringy cum.

When I was younger, a fair amount of emissions consisted of strands of ejaculate more so than solid pools (don't know how else to describe them), but is now a much more rare thing with almost all cum being either semi-solid or watery. So while I'm fairly certain aging has a lot to do with it, yet the fact I still do produce some strings, tells me something else is at play too.

I figured it could also have to do with all the same factors that might affect semen volume like frequency of orgasms, arousal levels, hydration and nutrition or supplements. But since I've not kept track of any of these possible causes prior to noticing it, it's maybe impossible to pin down.

So for those guys here, has anyone else noticed a decrease in this and what do you think is or was the factor? Does anyone also know what causes semen to be stringy to begin with as knowing that might obviously produce an answer as to why it decreases or stops altogether. I have also heard the term "The ropes" being used on here, but never really understood the exact definition. Is that the same thing as what I'm referring to, as I always thought it meant the clumpy pulses themselves that come out during ejaculation.

Any input would be welcome.

In my teens and 20s I would fire some really thick ropes, usually about 5-6 during orgasm. Now it depends, I hydrate a lot so usually I let out a few wet bursts before the rest pours out in clumpy globs.

I believe I understand what you are describing and I think I can relate to having a similar outcome as yours where as my semen is more semi-solid, watery at times now. I can still shoot a few shots but after those first few, my cum will just drool out and run down my shaft or hand if I am holding my penis. My younger days I remember shooting those same first few shot but when the remaining ejaculate began to drool out it would form strands or long strings that looked it was a combination of semen and precum mixed in. It literally made my cock look like it was drooling. I didn't produce a lot of precum then but I often wondered that how ever much I did or was producing, most of it was coming out through the ejaculate. Perhaps this is what made my semen so stringy at the end of an ejaculation? Now I produce a bit more precum than my younger days but no stringy cum. Weird.

Interesting observation.

It's interesting how little is known about semen production, storage, expulsion etc. Let's do some scientific research!

I don’t recall ever having “stringy” ejaculate but I can definitely see a difference if I’m hydrated or not. Even in my 40’s, I still have a shot or 2 of precum before the big event. If I’m well hydrated it comes out and sort of pools. If I haven’t had much water it’s very thick, sometimes I wonder if it’s all coming out!
