Word. It's not a coincidence that the man who issued interest free notes was assassinated a year later...JFK is the perfect example of what happens when presidents stray from what the ruling class deems necessary...

Anyone notice how Obama's demeanor changed the day after he won the election? They got to him too...

The creation of the Fed was supposed to put an end to banking panics like the one seen in 1907 and 1893, if a central body could standardise the money supply and provide a backstop when things went wrong -so the theory went- it would ensure order and foster confidence.

When the Fed failed to flood the banks with liquidity and low interest rates during the 1929 depression they were roundly criticised by monetarists for not doing enough (a mistake that Bernanke is keen to avoid), but when they do the opposite academics from exactly the same school of thought tell them that they're still getting it wrong.

By suing the Fed aren't you just as as money grabbing and opportunistic as they are?

According to wiki, in 2009 the Federal Reserve system returned $47 billion to the US Treasury.

Maybe you should sue them instead.

I think that recovering hard earned money that was taken away by fraud could hardly be described as money grabbing and opportunistic. Letting the fraud continue isn't helping anyone apart from the private bankers and their corporate buddies.

I agree that the financial system is out of control, but I just wonder whether suing the Fed is the optimal solution.

Ending their stranglehold on interest rates makes a lot more sense to me, having a body that is able to set prices throughout the entire economy by twiddling a few knobs hands a minority way too much power; it's inevitably going to end in corruption. But sorting that out would entail major social changes, not a simple lawsuit and fat payout for the plaintiffs.

    No, not even remotely so.

Is your moral existence really so poorly developed that you honestly didn't know the answer to that question? If so, please seek professional help. If not, stop being a fucking troll.

Telling Speculator not to troll is like telling Glenn Beck not to use Hitler references.

Why is the American answer to everything a class action lawsuit?

I take it you're going put your money where your rather large mouth is and sign up for ten bucks a month

No wonder you're flustered. His avatar is way cooler than yours.

Congratulations, you know how to use paint. His avatar is also highly offensive, he should remove it immediately.

Someone needs to remind the spec'd one that he's been on my ignore list for the last four days. The day I need to "copy" him is the day Tom DeLay comes out of the closet.

I mean, damn... he of all people should be happy that the ones he ignorantly labels as "libtards" are willing to put such a hyper-conservative as their representing avatar. But knowing how completely unoriginal and desperate for attention the spec'd one is, he's probably taken my lead, used Photoshop and put a target on Obama's face.

I remain truly baffled why a small but very vocal contingent hate the Fed. The Fed did it's job and prevented a major catastrophe from spiraling out of control and sending the world economy into uncharted territory. If you want to vent your anger vent it at Congress for undoing the speed brakes on the banks and doing nothing about the runaway train they were key in creating.

Seriously, I have no idea why this board becomes such a magnet for rabid, hyper-conservative, ideological trolls.

But not to completely derail this thread, let me at least make one comment that is somewhat related to the OP. Given the amount of political scandals our nation have been subjected to, a healthy distrust of the government is always necessary to keep them in check. However, this psychobabble about how the government screws everything up is beyond dishonest and ridiculous. They don't seem to realize that the less our government does to establish a basic level of societal standards, the more abuses of human rights & civility occur.

Why would you have to remove your avatar?

If you want to show everyone that you're only here to try and antagonize people, by doing silly things like putting up an avatar with gun sights superimposed on a picture of a sitting US president, go for it.
