Well, the original jockstrap was *designed* for bicyclists. Even the original company name, BIKE, references its origins. It's an obvious place to start.

However, supportive pouch underwear, like that from 2xist or even EVOLVE from Target, gives me almost the same support as a jockstrap without the commitment to an "athletic supporter. And, given the tastes of the members of this site, you might already have some in your underwear drawer.

They now make special bicycle seats with splits in them, which I presume, is to relieve the pressure of your whole body pressing down on your balls and taint, while riding.
It's also geared toward reducing cancer risks, I assume, from the pressures.
I rode a ten speed...A LOT (very fast, I might add), when I was younger and felt the same discomfort.
The benefit was, I developed quite a lean physique, which, I found quickly, the ladies LIKED!
Then, after I got married, they came out with the split saddle, which was intended to keep you fertile, and comfortable.
At least it gave your balls somewhere LOWER to sit on the seat! That way, they weren't squashed!

I like jocks for most things where I'm being active except for bicycling. I ride quite a lot. RGR is correct about the invention of the bicycle jockey strap an it might work well for you. For me, the seam where the butt straps and pouch come together rubs me raw. Padded bicycle shorts do a good job of fixing this problem. The padded shorts need to be pulled up high so that the pad fits snuggly against your perenium. Loose shorts allow the pad to move around on your body rubbing you raw. Since I have a stocky build and find it hard to keep regular shorts pulled up properly I choose bib shorts which have suspenders built into them. You might need to discretely reach in an pull your junk up into position when you get on the saddle but things should stay in place after that. If you don't like the look of spandex simply put a regular pair of shorts on top. If you do choose briefs/trunks/boxerbriefs try to find some without seam between you and the saddle. The seams will tend to rub you raw. Nylon is probably better than cotton in this case.

along with split seats; do you wear cycling shorts. They have padding in the crotch.

I don't wear cycling shorts, I have been wearing Evolve unease because the cock pocket have more room for my balls, but was still having some issues. I want to bike more, but after 1 hour of riding I feel some pain. I will try the jock strap or the split seat as well. Thanks for the advance

An anatomically correct comfort seat and a good pair of padded shorts make a critical difference if you're going for long distance rides. Pearl Izumi padded cycling shorts/bibs have proven to be the best for me. Every spring and fall is the Rosarito to Ensenada 50 Mile Bike Ride. When I finished last September, there was no crotch pain or discomfort at all. This was after 4 hours in the saddle. Regular underwear doesn't cut it. You don't want any seams between your crotch and the seat. Otherwise, the friction will cause a rash.

Not too long ago, I took a casual 7 mile ride on the boardwalk. I just wore my regular clothes because I wasn't going that far. Later that night, I was surprised that I was saddle sore. When avoiding crotch soreness is the priority, padded cycling shorts is the way to go.

The split seats are to avoid putting pressure on the urethra which can lead to damaging blood vessels and impotence.

I tend to wear tighty whiteys and I bike at least 2-5 miles often with some terrain every day. Today I did 12 miles out and back to the nude beach...

I know that you are not supposed to wear anything under your bike shorts, and generally I don't. But I struggle with the pain that the shorts or the tights cause me. I have a sore left ball and the shorts just hit in the wrong place. And frankly, they don't surround the balls with support. Back in the day, I would wear a speedo-like suit underneath and that helped.

As a long distance rider I highly recommend the padded cycling shorts...I use Castelli cycling gear. Don't wear anything under cycling shorts as it defeats the purpose of the chamois or "padding" which is to minimize chafing and wick away moisture. There is another product called Chamois Butt'r which further reduces chafing or "heat" as it is sometime called. As far as saddles go, I use an SMP Glider saddle...it is split and has a drop nose. (helpful for those with larger genitals/gonads) Another saddle that is gaining popularity is the Adamo saddle. A key factor in saddle comfort is it's adjustment. Proper height, yaw, pitch and fore and aft settings on the seat post can make all the difference in the world. You just need to find that "sweet spot".

Padded cycling shorts are a must and pull your balls up before you get on the bike. I do a good deal of mountain biking and that is a must! Then do a little re-arranging when you get off the bike.

I'd love some suggestion for cycling shorts. I wear padded seat spandex shorts and no underwear. .Gravity always takes it down the side of my leg where it rubs against the saddle and wears the fabric out after several rides.
The only thing that holds it in place is if I wear 2 pair of briefs, but them my ass gets sore.
Any suggestions?

Iride 100 miles per week. A jock is not the answer if you have large, low hanging balls. As someone suggested, use a padded short and a split seat.
