Meditation. Therapy. Volunteer work.

The main tools... Acceptance, and forgiveness. Usually applied to one's self. Definitely was true in my case.

I use music and other forms of art. Whether they be my creation or my appreciation of what is created by others it's very useful for me. If you're avoiding substance use in any form I would utilize physical activity and a ritualistic lifestyle with flexibility. Whether it's be diet change, hobby discovery, socializing (introverted peeps acknowledged, there are non crowded spaces depending on where you live, emphasis on location and feels to those without means to get to them)

I won't deny that I use cannabis you don't have to use that to take any previous advice and if you've tried these without success I'm sorry I don't have more to offer.

Find your peace. If you can't, don't give up. Ever. I won't.

Also, I'm not a licensed health professional, but in my line of work I do have to acknowledge that sometimes depression isn't treatable without medication and that finding the correct type and dose can take time.

If everything I suggested are things you've already tried, I'd say don't give up on trying and don't give up on finding some kind of medication that can actually help you.

I understand the frustration. I really do. There are no simple answers. Only long roads with lots of potholes and unexpected turns. Keep your hands on the wheel and remember you have a brake pedal. It's ok to stop and just absorb yourself sometimes. Just make sure you pull over to a place where you're not going to let anyone crash into you, and remember that you have to get back on the road eventually.

Travel well.

Air ionisers can help with mood, something to do with the air being negatively charged which helps increase good moods, it's likened to the feeling after a thunderstorm or being near running water.
I've had ionisers in the house for years because I'ma heavy smoker and they help purify the air, they also help with mood as it turns out.

Gotta say, when it rains or a short walk to the river behind my house or sitting by my goldfish pond in my front yard... It helps.

Living in the desert may be a factor, but I anecdotally verify this idea.

I do find I feel less down when it's been raining so I'll see if I can find an ioniser

As either a before you go meds, or an adjunct:

Exercise. @TinyPrincess mentioned dancing, and it’s one of my first choices (along with hula hooping) for fast mood elevation. Long term a consistent daily exercise will help.
A meta analysis

Diet. Whole food dominant diets are better for the brain, and many minerals matter deeply.

An umbrella review

As mentioned above, therapy, meditation and doing for others all contribute to emotional resilience.
