Democrats own the presidency, the senate, and the house why can't they do what they really want to do with something as trivial as lifting liability limits at a time just like this; sustaining a filibuster to do so if needed? Out the Republicans. Make the case.

What is wrong with Demos?

"sustaining" a fillibuster means continuing it, I think you mean breaking it....and I agree- if they're serious about this, Harry Reid needs to threaten to force the GOP into actually fillibustering- as in, forcing them to talk their heads off.

Maybe they're "outing" them by doing nothing. It'll be remembered that the Republicans blocked the effort.

Just as they (under Bush) limited the ability of "Joe the Plumber" to sue a corporation for damages or injuries from a defective product.

Just as they applauded the SCOTUS when they ruled for no limits on the monetary value of campaign contributions that they line their pockets with.

Just as they whine and cry over the stimulus package, healthcare reform, extended unemployment benefits, and just about anything else that helps the average JOE (the plumber) while at the same time trying to make someone else out to be the villian.

One Democratic president, I forget which, did this in the past. It was some crisis or another, and he sent hundreds of bills to the Republican controlled Congress, knowing they would be blocked. He then ran for reelection, highlighting this and asking people if they wanted the Democrats to fix the country, or vote for the "Do nothing Republicans". He won in a landslide.

And it appears that history is going to repeat itself.

PSA FOR TPA-VINCE

Words can have meaning in context. <snip>
Fine, you meant that the Democrats should be willing to "suffer or endure without giving way" a Republican filibuster.

But as you said, context is important and when people speak about filibusters, the side doing the act (the filibuster), are in the minority and must sustain it without giving way under pressure from the majority. This is the common and excepted usage of the term "sustain a filibuster". It means you give it sustenance, support, encouragement.

Search Google for the phrase "sustain a filibuster".

Never in my life have I seen someone online spend so much time vigorously defending their own ignorance. Amazing... lol... wow.

and so on...

Oh, so you relied on common usage rather than an interpretive view of the word sustain. I'm sorry but when I used socialism in its common usage form I was pilloried in a fashion for doing so. I so assumed this was a well capable, sophisticated audience and that I in like kind could rely on that fact elsewhere.

I kid you, but TPA... not so much.

From your own research of the definition of the word 'sustain'...

sus·tain

...5.to keep up or keep going, as an action or process: to sustain a conversation...
Or in the context here, to 'sustain' a filibuster...

It's not my fault that you can't even figure out the appropriate meaning of a word, for a given context, even when it's right in front of your face.

Like I have told you multiple times before... Educate yourself BEFORE engaging topics that you do not understand. That way, you don't make yourself look like a fool.
